2007 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0T
Summary:
Do not buy any VW!!!
Faults:
Let's see:
Rattles everywhere: Dealer says it's a plastic cover (it's not).
Front bearing driver's side.
Wipers stopped working and are stuck in the up position.
Transmission is slipping in 2nd gear.
Bushings.
The smallest little rock puts a dent on that car.
A/C is not cold anymore.
And the cherry on top!!! The engine is drinking 3 litters of oil every 2500km!!! And the dealer says it's normal!!!
General Comments:
So where should I start...
Nice looking, all leather, electric, heated seats and mirrors, comfortable, and that is IT!!!
I have owned an 2000 Jetta VR6, which in my case was a great car, felt proper, and I still have an E36 M3, which I think was one of the best cars ever built.
But this thing is a real lemon. THANK GOD I took the extra warranty...
The metal sheets feel very thin; it gets bent very easily, and when you wash the car, if you just press a bit, the metal just buckles.
The transmission, when in Drive mode, always slips in second gear and gives a big kick.
And Sport mode is just worthless, and takes way, way too long to shift
The engine burns 3 liters of oil every 2500km, and my dealer told me I should add oil to the engine every time I put in gas, my answer was: LOL.
I'm sure that my engine will need a rebuild or be dead before reaching 100k, and the transmission shortly after.
I take very good care of all my cars and drive them gently, but VW this time made a big mistake, and I think it is costing them a lot of clients.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

I completely agree, DO NOT buy one of these. Terrible reliability for a modern car and tons of design flaws. Sure they are fun to drive (when they work) and look nice; that's pretty much it though. My mother bought one brand new and it was at the shop so often she had to put insurance on her old car to get around! Turns out her 92 Buick Park Avenue with 250k on it was actually MORE RELIABLE than the new Jetta with 20k on it... absolutely ridiculous!!!
Non stop check engine light problems, strange noises from the engine and transmission, interior falling apart, power window problems; the Jetta was an absolute nightmare of a lemon! Fortunately my mother traded it in last year for a hybrid Ford Fusion, no problems with that so far, however the trade in value for the Jetta wasn't great, but I still think it was a good idea to get rid of it. Stay away from these cars; even a Kia is probably more reliable.

Completely agree! The Jetta we had was total junk. It was great for less than a year, then it was a waterfall of issues for the next 2 years we owned it.
The stealership really gives credence to the moniker stealership. They WAY over-charge for basic parts made in Mexico, not to mention they ALL will find any reason possible to deny your warranty.
Besides that, calling around revealed differences of over $400 for the same job at 2 VW stealerships. Crooks! Even the cheaper quote of $2300 to fix my front brakes was $1800 more than what Brake Masters charged. Unreal!!
The car's dash cluster failed twice, taillight fell out, cruise doesn't work, sun roof leaks, rear 2 windows leak, trunk seized shut, a door handle broke off in sub zero weather, and the final straw was it completely locking up the front brake at freeway speeds (what necessitated the brake fix).
After that we dumped the bomb as we called it. We were the original owner and followed strict maintenance, which didn't matter. Stay away from VW!

Wait, the VW technician says it's normal for a car to burn 6L of oil between two oil changes?
What did you say to him? That he's good for a politician?
