2005 Volvo S60 T 2.4 petrol
Summary:
Impressive reliability
Faults:
The biggest problem I had was the clutch, which broke at 70,000 miles.
Then, to mention other minor issues such as overheating, which was caused by cracked radiator hoses. Frequent oil loss after 30,000 miles and ignition problems often due to issues with spark plugs, coils, and injectors.
The warning lights come on for no clear reason; I don't consider it a problem because it doesn't affect the car's operation itself.
General Comments:
I acquired the car from my mother when it was 10 years old (not very old, only 20,000 miles).
It was a huge leap in quality compared to the Mystique I had previously. The car's materials are top-notch. It has almost perfect sound insulation and doesn't suffer from rust problems.
The car itself is beautiful; perhaps this one is more striking because it's red with a beige interior. Over the years, the car has looked exactly as it did in 2005 (the year it was manufactured), which demonstrates how well-made it is. Although it was a family car, when my mother gave it to me it was already 10 years old and ran like new. Today, after 21 years of use, it runs like the first time I drove it.
This car is so smooth running I would not have chosen any other, and believe me, I tried them all! And I love the AWD which allows me to feel safe and in control in any weather. The feeling of safety that driving this car gives is something difficult to explain, when so much is said about Volvo always prioritizing safety, well, in this car I noticed that what was said was not exaggerated.
The engine, besides being agile and powerful, is very fuel-efficient for a 2.4-liter gasoline engine, making the car easy to drive both in the city and on the highway. The manual gearbox helps the car accelerate more smoothly and makes overtaking easier.
This Volvo S60 is an amazing combination of superb performance, economy, reliability, and comfort. I hope I can put another 100,000 miles on it because I plan to keep it for a long time.
