1986 Alfa Romeo Alfasud Sprint / Sprint Veloce 1.5 QV 1.5 Boxer

Summary:

As good as it looks

Faults:

Water-pump replaced at 250.000km.

Lots of electrical problems.

Lots of rust on bodywork. I almost lost the fuel-tank once because of rusted straps.

Inner door plastic handles replaced several times. (the plastic gets crisp at low temperatures, -20 Celsius and below)

Ball-bearings on rear wheels replaced at 250.000km.

Gearbox broke down at 340.000km.

General Comments:

The car was delivered to the scrapyard at 340.000km with a broken gearbox and serious rustproblems.

The engine was very good, never had to tune carburetors or ignition, never replaced the clutch either.

A fantastic car to drive, performance really impressing for such a small engine.

A really good winter-car, front-wheel drive and good weight distribution, makes it perform very well on icy roads. Has a good heater too. Record of starting the engine at low temperature are -38 degrees Celsius.
