1980 Chevrolet Citation 2.8 V6

Summary:

Surprisingly good

Faults:

Build quality was pretty poor. Seemed that the car was just hastily thrown together. First year my father simply went around and screwed on loose parts. A lot of parts were glued on and fell off. My father used epoxy glue, and these parts never became unglued again. Front seat frame broke. Had to be welded together again. Most emission stuff was dismantled, after that the car went much better.

My sister took over this car when my mother got a new car. She drove this car into the ground with zero maintenance or care for the car. Also, it rusted pretty badly in the end. Rear axle almost fell off due to rust, and it was scrapped. Did not pass safety inspection. By then it was a rolling wreck, although mechanically it was good.

General Comments:

My mother really loved this car. Surprisingly fast and nimble to drive. A few initial problems with build quality that was sorted by my father and a local garage, and after that the car was pretty reliable. More irritating than serious problems, like the gear knob became unglued. A shame we didn't take more care of this car for the longer run. It simply rusted to pieces.
