2007 Toyota Yaris TS 1.8

Summary:

All in all, a good city car with some extra punch

Faults:

Seat heating is not working. It worked, but now suddenly it won't.

Also I just changed to winter tires. When I took off the summer tires and rims, I noticed that both tires in the back are worn out, and worn like on the insides of tire. Front ones OK, normal wear.

I spoke to dealer and he was surprised at first, saying that it should not happen, there is no rear camber to adjust and so on. So we agreed that I run the car 10 days or so with winter tires and rims, and then see if these also wearing off or what. Shall report back here on this issue.

General Comments:

OK car. Small but yet a lot of space inside. 4 adults can easily sit in a car.

My version has keyless start and go, and it's really nice feature. But it happened 2 times that after stopping at a gas station (same one) and after tanking, the car would not start. Display was saying that the key is not inside the car, and it is. Each time I pushed the car 10-15 meters and then it would start normally. I read in newspapers that this problem can occur on some cars that don't have good isolation on electrical wiring and so. So if you park above, beside or below some power cables, it could 'jam' the car.

Yes, so car is small, it's not so light weight, but it has a good engine - 1.8 liters, and it serves the car well. There is enough power if you want it and when you want it. It's not a sports car, but like a normal small car with some extra power.

As summer wheels I have 17 inch low profile Goodyears, and I'm happy with them. They serve the car good in fast cornering, high speeds and so on. In winter I chose 15 inch Michelin snow. Good so far, but the car has noticeably less sporty handling now. Oh well...

Fuel consumption is not good. But hey, 1.8 liter engine.

In summer I get around 9 - 9.5 liters per 100km.

Best I got in summer is around 8,8. A lot I think.

As soon as I changed to winter wheels, the fuel consumption fell down to 8L per 100km. Not bad.

What more to say, we are a 3 person family, 2 adults, 1 child and the car size is OK for us. Mainly because when we travel, we don't take all the house with us. So we are OK with the space.

The front seat yes. Driver's front seat. I don't know, but I'm not happy with it. I'm 190cm with 110kg. And on 2+ hours journeys I just can't find a good sitting position. I can move the seat up-down, forward-backward, but it's no use. This seat is not good for me. When I tested the car before buying, I noticed right away that seat position doesn't fit me well, but I thought oh well, I'll adapt. Wrong from my side. I will probably be selling the car soon cause of the seat. Sad but true.

If you are the same size as me, test the seat really good before buying!!!

Ps. I'll update the review as long as I have the car.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

Have now changed to summer tires. No side wear on winter tires.

I blame heavy summer rims. They are really heavy.

Have not fixed the seat heating, as I don't use it and don't care.

Anyway, no other problems.

Bought with 26,000km. Now have 42,000km.

Sold the car at 42200km.

I need something bigger as we have one more family member on the way.

Also I just could not find good sitting position. Not good car for my 188cm and 100kg.

I find also fuel consumption to be high for such a small car. I know it has a big engine, but anyway I think it's high.

All in all, an OK car.
