1997 Daewoo Tico SX 0.8 petrol

Faults:

Often suspension and steering system failures (mainly front wheels).

Rusting chassis.

Leaking rear sprinkler tube.

Ignition problems both at wheel and engine.

Generally fragile, chassis dents easily, made from tinfoil.

Engine works loud.

Very hard clutch pedal.

Poor brakes.

General Comments:

Very light, can be pushed around easily.

Acceleration in first 50 kilometers is surprisingly good. With a properly regulated clutch it's possible to successful outrace other cars when starting from red lights. But after reaching higher speeds, the drag eats the power.

Uses around 5-6L/100Km.

The visibility in all directions is very good. Feels like being in an aquarium.

Transport capacity is great.

When turning at higher velocities, it feels like it's going to roll over.

Feels fragile, insecure to drive around.

2000 Daewoo Tico LX 0.8

Summary:

Perfect as a city car

Faults:

Just the battery went dead after leaving the lights on for 24 hours.

General Comments:

Good:

It is really easy to drive it in the city. Parking is a piece of cake with beautiful visibility in the rear mirrors. And with that fuel consumption (5-6%) it’s really cheap to operate too. For a city car, it’s excellent.

Bad:

Let’s face it: the car does not look good. It’s an ugly little car. But… as long as you don’t really care about that…

For long distances don’t put 4 inside. With 4 people inside, the engine is too small, the tires are too narrow and there’s not enough room. Acceleration and breaking can be really slow. I would say it’s a dangerous car with 4 inside.

2000 Daewoo Tico SX 0.8

Summary:

Agile and inexpensive to have

Faults:

The fuel pump got unsealed at 50,000 kilometers.

General Comments:

The car may not look very nice, but it certainly has a lot to offer when its one's first car.

It is ideal for driving in the city and commuting at short distances.

The performance is satisfactory and the noise inside is at acceptable level.

The interior materials do not feel very good, but you can easily get used to it.

Also the steering wheel is to big.

When using alternative fuel i.e. propane-butane the running costs are extremely low.

Reliabilty is astonishing - no serious problems so far.
