2012 Audi A7 3.0 TDI

Summary:

Neat cruiser, comfort first, performance second

General Comments:

I got the chance to drive this car on a test track.

My impressions are the following ones.

Interior: design is very nice, well finished, it inspires elegance and is less high tech compared to other Audi interiors. Wood touches look very nice, probably inspired by yacht design. The seats are comfortable and the entire interior is a nice place to sit in.

Exterior: design is clean, sharp, without any unnecessary experiments and I liked that very much. It inspired quality and durability.

Driving: the TDI engine has a good amount of torque which made it comfortable for highway driving. However, the car felt nose heavy and even with adaptive dampers there was always a feel of understeer when pushing the car harder.

The proof to this are the front tyres which were torn apart on the outer side after only a few kilometers of track driving.

If you want a nimble car, you better go for the V6 gasoline engine which feels much more eager and it seems not so heavy as the diesel.

Overall: it is a nice design, quite practical, but if you like sharp driving, avoid the diesel or go for a lighter car (A4, S4). The A7 feels more like a cruiser than a car for making the driver happy.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

Nice review, these are stunning cars, and I think the A7 looks distinct enough from other Audi models which are all a bit too similar (A4, A5, A6, etc).
