1993 Mitsubishi Colt GLi 1.3

Summary:

Colt rulz!

Faults:

The distribution needs to be changed and it's really expensive, not the cable, but the guys from the service are charging about 150 euros for the work, without the distribution cable. But then again, they are charging about 50 euros for an oil change.

The drivers seat belt enclosure is broken, so I have to lock my seat belt in the passenger's place.

General Comments:

It's a pretty fast car, 1.3 engine and only 910kg. It's just great in the city, it's not that small, but it still makes its way through the crowd.

I think that it's a good car because it's the car I'm learning to drive on, and I had the chance to drive newer cars, and this one seems easier to drive, and in almost 7000 km I didn't have any engine issues, didn't have to repair anything.

Plus, when you have a classic like the Colt series, you make a pretty nice impression on the road.

1995 Mitsubishi Colt GLXI 1.3 petrol

Summary:

Really nice car, maybe with some upgrades it would be a really good one

Faults:

After almost 30000 km I had to change the original arm with a new one, which fitted well, but wasn't cheap.. :P.

Now I've found that the steering box has a leak. The leak is from the plastic oil seal, which cracked.

A little bit of rust.

General Comments:

A nice car for the city; quick, easy to drive, low fuel consumption.

I even tried it on a track, and... it felt quite good, except it was wet and the original small tyres weren't that great. Problem almost solved with another person in the car. ;)

1991 Mitsubishi Colt GTi 1.6 16v

Summary:

A little piece of EVO

Faults:

Engine hesitates when pushed under 3000 RPM. Never solved this problem. I've just converted to LPG and the engine runs great this way.

Front shocks and ball-joints changed. Something normal on our roads.

Electric windows miss-aligned. It bothers me on rainy weather only.

Electric sunroof leaks and roof rusted real bad. I've cut down and replaced with a standard roof.

Right drive axle replaced. Very expensive parts and some don't fit. For example lower ball-joint plays in original arm so have to buy a new arm, drive axle head don't fit so I have to buy a new axle.

General Comments:

This is the best car of this class and age. Except the roof that I have been replaced it is rust free.

It's made to be hard driven. Fast on corners with no body roll. It doesn't under steer or over steer.

Top speed is about 210 Km/h and reach that point real fast. No side wind effects.

Never seen an 1.6 16v NA engine with 126 Hp and a 7500 RPM redline.

ABS is doing it's job. Power steering heps.

Plenty of space in front, but the front seats are placed between the back seats occupants legs.

Forget about the boot space. It is just enough space to install a woofer.

Overall it's a great little unnoticed performance car.
