2001 Skoda Fabia Elegance 1.4 MPI

Summary:

Good on lots of things, bad on reliability

Faults:

Two times replaced the dash speaker.

Two times replaced cooling water temperature sensor.

Thermostat replaced.

Clutch disk replaced at 60000Km.

Transmission chain replaced 50000Km.

Electric windows module replaced. Again broken.

Steering sensor replaced.

Cooling water leaking - fix by service.

Some noises coming from doors and windows.

Paint is sensible on scratches although it looks good on the street.

General Comments:

Good interior comfort.

Very good materials used inside, especially on dash, the fit and finishes are best in its class.

Good chairs and ergonomics.

Good stability and grip with optional 15" alloys and Dunlop tires.

Steering is good in town, but too light at high speeds.

Only average comfort on poor surface especially with 15" inch alloys. There is also noise coming from drive train and suspensions on potholes.

Engine needs high revving on motorway especially with air conditioning on, but is OK for 68 HP. Not the fuel consumption witch is high in town. Buy the 100 HP diesels for performance and economics.

Inside space is good for its class, also the feeling of a solid car given by massive dash.

Brakes are good adjusted - progressive.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
