2003 Hyundai Elantra GL Sedan 2.0

Summary:

Good and reliable if you maintain it well

Faults:

The piston was cracked, so I had to rebuild the engine at 235,000 KM. And every 40,000 KM I have to change the shock absorbers; this could be because of uneven roads, but the Camry I had before had no problem with jumps.

I use to drive the car a lot on highways at an average speed of 160 Km per hour. The car performs very well and gives me more than expected fuel economy, but driving at high speed with the air-conditioning made the compressor weak just after several trips of 1000 km.

General Comments:

The 2.0 L engine feels strong enough for its class, and the handling is also very good.

No wind noises on the highway.

Unfortunately I have to change the engine oil every 2000 KM (1200 miles). This is before the engine rebuild and after. The oil burns very quickly, no matter which oil I use. The only oil that gave extra miles is Mobil 1, which should give me 10,000 KM, but still it gave me 4500 KM.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
