1999 Asia Motors Rocsta GT 1.8 petrol

Summary:

Rugged, tough and reliable

Faults:

I started to use a lot of oil and then I had the engine overall-ed at 154000 km - Mazda F8 1.8l spares used.

Seats are not very strong as I had them repaired frequently. The Speedometer is very incorrect against my GPS about 15 km/h slower!

General Comments:

I love this vehicle for its purpose- off-road and SUV. it is not designed to be a family vehicle.

I found a new mechanic who tuned this car to give top performance- what a difference it made on economy and performance. Spares are hard to come by- maybe someone can let us know who to find it in South Africa. This Rocsta of mine is very reliable.

This Rocsta has now done 197,000 km! I had to replace the alternator and used a universal "Lucas" model. The fuel pump has been replaced twice as the quality thereof is not good (pirate part). Polyurethane shackle bushes used.

Just keep going right and now has 209 000km on the clock. who has done more mileage? Very reliable and the critics can eat their words!

1977 Asia Motors Rocsta swb 2.2 diesel

Summary:

A real eye catcher

Faults:

The engine has an oil leek.

General Comments:

I love this little 4x4.

It is costly to fix the engine, but I think it's worth it!

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

1995 Asia Motors Rocsta Soft Top 2.2 diesel

Faults:

The interior plastic trim is starting to show signs of wear and tear. The variable viscouse fan packed up early in its life otherwise nothing until recently, when the waterpump gave up the ghost. I got over 85,000 kms out of the first set of Hangkook tyres and over 123,000 kms out of the clutch!

General Comments:

A great little vehicle. I have really used it, with an emphasis on used! Unfortunately the agency is no longer in South Africa otherwise I would get another!

Just posted on another chat, but here goes... anyone in South Africa have problems with their Rocsta's handbreak? Mine hasn't held for a year despite setting and resetting 15 times the drums, getting new cable inners and outers made up.

Also having problems with cold starting after the relay switch was broken by a mechanic (and replaced twice)

Have the same issue with the viscous fan, switched mine to a simple old solid ford fan.

Any help would be great!
