2007 Audi A4 2.0T turbo

Summary:

Good

Faults:

After owning two previous Audi 1800Ts, I have purchased an Audi 2000T and it needs to be topped up with oil between services.

This never happened with my previous two cars. Have also been told that it's normal.

Other than that love the car.

1998 Audi A4 2.8 2.8

Summary:

Still love this car after many years together

Faults:

Faulty Concert radio (volume erratic)

General Comments:

Had this car for 10 years, proven to be extremely reliable.

Always maintained at an Audi dealer which is not cheap BUT I am sure this has contributed to it aging this well.

Fantastic car to drive, especially long distance.

Plenty power, comfortable and still a great looking car 10 years on.

I have a much newer A4 as well but tend to use the 2.8 mostly.

Don't buy one if you can't properly maintain it.

Otherwise go for it, you won't be disappointed.

2003 Audi A4 1.8T 1.8T

Summary:

Car is a good sedate cruiser, but no sports sedan

Faults:

Loose torsion bar resulting in knocking noise which took dealers 18 months to locate and repair.

General Comments:

For a car marketed as a performance sedan it is a sheep in wolfs clothing. The suspension is particularly poor with too much body roll and inadequate suspension dampening. Compared to BMW 3 series and Mercedes C class it is a loser regarding its suspension.

Despite what the makers say turbo lag is a problem especially with the auto multitronic transmission.

The sports suspension offered after I bought the car is a huge improvement which makes it a class leader in handling.

Finally the brakes are far too sensitive making controlled braking difficult.

Apart from the above the car is equipped with quality finishes, but the assembly is not up to that of my previous Audi 500SE which was a gem.

2003 Audi A4 1.8T 1.8 Turbo 20V

Summary:

A disappointment.

Faults:

Poor shock absorbers and soft suspension.

General Comments:

Bouncy suspension. Very poor ride.

Very sensitive brakes which are hard to control.

Suffers of Turbo-lag and it is rather underpowered for a car which is marketed with a sporting character.

Nice design and otherwise a good car.

This car was entirely great! I loved it the first minute I drove it!

Come on...Boys!

Get yourself into a Pug 406, and Feel the difference, in terms like: Handling-cornering-riding.

Generally speaking, DRIVEABILITY and LONGLIVEABILITY.

And all above, surely cheaper. Unless you are snob.

Many people do not get the opportunity to test drive the cars they buy and even if they do, it is usually a short "around the block" test drive.

A prestige car such as the 1.8T may seem to be responsive on a quick around the block cruise, but its lack of real performance may only become apparent once attempting an overtake manouvre on the open road.

By the way, I did not write the original review, but believe that reviewers should be encouraged to tell it as it is (after an ownership experience) without being berated by narrow minded people.

Finally, I agree that the lesser Audis do not live up to their sporting image. However, fork out more money and buy an S4 or RS6, and there are very few cars that can keep up with them on the road.

Oh and don't bother trying to test drive one of these cars - most dealers won't let you test drive until you leave a deposit!

2002 Audi A4 1.9TDI 1.9 turbo diesel

Summary:

This is THE benchmark vehicle in its class

Faults:

No problems to date.

General Comments:

The diesel engine has evolved: 0-100km/h in 10secs, tops 210km/h.

At 120km/h consumption is a mere 5L/100km, which means 1400km per tank. Best to date was a holiday trip of 1456km on 67L.

Quality finish, inside and out.

Lots of standard equipment which is optional on competitors.

I bought a used 1999 Audi A6 saloon 2.4 petrol engine. It drives well but could anyone tell me what I should look out for in terms of maintenance, fuel consumption etc? Anyone who owns an A6 and would like to advise?

I am looking to buy a used car & somebody is offering me an Audi A4 1.9 TDI. It is 2002 model & almost 180000K driven. I am in a bit of dilemna, whether to go for it or not. I have very high image of Audi's in my mind but also a bit worried about any heavy maintenance costs, it may give.

Can somebody please advise me.
