2001 Ford Ikon LX 1.6

Summary:

Sporty and reliable choice

Faults:

Paint peeling off the bumpers.

Alternator failed at 149.000kms.

Mag wheel wall cracked.

C.V. joints had to be replaced.

Camshaft belt replaced.

Seal in boot lid perished.

Cracked front head lamp.

Brake light circuit switch.

Aircon leaking into the car.

Interior blower not working.

Bonnet catch had to be replaced.

General Comments:

Despite the faults I've had with it, it's a very comfortable car, and the engine is responsive and has loads of grunt.

It's very easy to drive, and the gear changes are smooth and direct.

Has a massive boot, but wish it came with fold down seats.

Cars feels stable all the time, even at 160KPH.

It's very reliable. Starts first time, even in below freezing temperatures (-8°).
