2006 Lexus IS 250 SE-L 2.5 V6

Summary:

Lexus gets is 94% right

Faults:

Bearing was faulty and had to be replaced at 5000km. New bearing sent faulty reading to computer saying it was revolving in wrong direction when the car hit 51km.

General Comments:

This is a really, really nice car.

Not quite the drivers car a BMW is, but it is a better all-round and more sensible proposition with a lot of incredibly nice and unique features and excellent quality build. It is not as fuel economical as I hoped it would be and here again the BMW wins.

It does offer greater individuality though.

Looks are great yet maybe a tad too conservative.

This car makes good sense, if only we could get the diesel engine in South Africa.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

"New bearing sent faulty reading to computer saying it was revolving in wrong direction when the car hit 51km."

Old fruit, bearings don't do that. The dealer is pulling your chain.

I wonder where your Lexus IS 250 was assembled, as you bought in South Africa. I know quantities of other cars are assembled in South Africa. The new model C Class Mercedes due out in 2008 will have all it's right hand drive models assembled in the Eastern Cape.

I sat in the driver's seat of the Lexus IS 250 in a Co Dublin showroom. The comfortable seats and the quality of the car were very impressive.
