1986 Nissan Skyline L 1.8

Summary:

Bullet proof!

Faults:

Slight oil leak from the differential.

Cloth seats very badly worn.

Shocks very bad and had to be replaced.

Tail light needed fixing as it was falling apart.

All the above items were fixed/replaced after purchase at 386,000 km.

General Comments:

Car was parked under a tree in my neighbour's yard for 2 years before I bought it for next to nothing.

This Nissan started first time, and it did not even need a battery change.

Starts every single time, no matter the weather.

The interior leg room is fine, but there is very little space for rear passengers.

Huge boot, and I never managed to completely fill it.

Car is very slow due to its size, and is powered by a Nissan 1.8 carb. engine.

There are a few rattles still coming from the suspension, but there are absolutely no squeaks at all from the interior.

Considering that this car is used daily to transport construction equipment (sometimes with a small trailer in tow), it has yet to let me down!

1983 Nissan Skyline GTX 2.8i

Summary:

Old and still able to compete in comfort and speed

Faults:

Electronic Distributor.

Heating problems in traffic.

Cracked the chassis just above stabilizer bar mountings, in front.

General Comments:

Although this is an old car with only having l28e motor, it's still a kicks a major punch compared with most newer 6 cylinders produced locally and internationally.

Love the electronics on such an old car.

Has full house set up.

1992 Nissan Skyline 3.0 SGLi 3.0 straight-6 NA petrol

Summary:

Bargain car with everything you want

Faults:

The pin that fixes the distributor rotor to the shaft it sits on came out once. Car stopped because of the firing being all messed up.

General Comments:

Handling is very good and exciting.

Performance is very good, lots of torque from low revs.

Fuel consumption on the heavy side - get around 8km to the liter in town, but up to 11km per liter on the open road.

Mechanism keeping the boot lid open is poor. Replace with gas strut as soon as you can!!!
