2015 Ford Galaxy Titanium PowerShift 2.0 TDCi
Summary:
Spacious, comfortable and luxurious but a lot of transmission problems
Faults:
The most serious problem is the Ford Powershift automatic transmission.
I was already aware of the issues it had, but I never imagined they were so severe — my mistake, and I admit it.
It would jerk, operate roughly, and in severe cases, lose reverse, but the worst part was that it finally died at 90,000 km, which is what finally made me decide to sell the car.
Other minor faults, but faults nonetheless:
Starting problems for no apparent reason, sometimes without error codes in the diagnostic scan, often due to injector problems.
Frequent failures after 60,000-90,000 km due to faulty motors or sensors, leaving the tailgate poorly closed or inoperative.
Oil leaks: Common in the 2.0 TDCI engine, with transmission noises and clunking when shifting gears
General Comments:
In terms of comfort and luxury, I can't say anything bad about the car. It handles well and is easy to drive despite its large size. It has very good brakes and excellent stability; it feels more like a sedan than a long minivan.
Beyond the starting issues, the engine has power and good acceleration and speed. Leaving aside the huge headaches the transmission gave me, the engine itself isn't bad. It's also not a fuel-guzzling car; I'd say the normal average is 6 liters per 100 km.
If I compare it to my previous, older Toyota Previa, it's a leap in quality in every way, except for problems and reliability.
The vehicle itself was more expensive than anything Ford offered a little over 10 years ago, and spare parts aren't cheap either. What finally made me sell it last year were the constant problems with the gearbox and its eventual breakdown. If it weren't for that, I'd still have it today, but ultimately I decided to sell it and buy a more economical car.
A word of advice for those who want to buy a Galaxy: forget about the automatic transmission. Buy one with a manual gearbox; you won't regret it.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

I would only buy one with evidence of a recent transmission overhaul.
It's a shame really, most of the cars these power-shift boxes are fitted to are otherwise OK. I had a Mondeo years ago which had this auto box, the car was perfect over many years and miles apart from the transmission failing.

Yes, the infamous PowerShift. Must be one of the worst transmissions out there. Might fail well before 100K, will fail with certainty before 200K kilometers. On older cars, rebuilding these makes no sense due to cost. Second hand ones will fail, and are hard to find in operational order. Go for the manual transmission, the rest of these cars have decent quality and will last a long time.
