1987 Volkswagen Passat Estate 1.8 petrol

Summary:

An underestimated winner

Faults:

The top front suspension bearings are not too good right now.

The front left wheel bearing is not too good either. But It still keeps going.

General Comments:

The car was sold in Germany, but imported to Sweden in 1999. It's not rusty at all. Despite the high mileage of the car, it is in good shape. I love this car. The engine runs great and its really comfortable.

1998 Volkswagen Passat Lim Trend 1.8T

Summary:

I'm 30 days from getting my new 01 Passat 1.8T

Faults:

* Door locking system was in emergency mode (computer box) from day one. 3 door locks replaced, covered by warranty.

* Front brake pads replaced in accordance to the manufacturer notice.

* Front suspension replaced due to noise.

General Comments:

Even though I have had a few minor faults, I feel the car is reliable.

The 150hp feels like less. The fact that the 01 version has 170hp proves my point.

Headlights are way to weak for the Nordic winter roads.

2000 Volkswagen Passat TDi 1.9 turbo diesel 115hp

General Comments:

Car is running very well. The fuel economy is superb. The engine's torque allows you outrun most petrol cars. During a vacation the average fuel consumption was 6.1 liter/100 km over a 1200 km trip. This was at highway speed (120-130km/h).
