2006 Subaru Legacy Exclusive 2.0L petrol

Summary:

Could be better

Faults:

Battery died.

Hard plastics at the base of the Gear selector are scratching.

Gas milage could be better.

General Comments:

The 2.0L motor is annoyingly slow off the line. (Auto-box).

The sound system is the major disapointment. Good to look at, but that's it. The worst thing is that there's almost nothing you can do about it. Impossible to replace or improve on without major surgery (as it seems to be linked to A/C controls somehow). The dealers here are not interested in offering any options. (The versions in Japan have a large selection of alternative audio components.)

Space, fit and finish, and traction all good.

1992 Subaru Legacy 2000 Turbo 2.0 turbo

Summary:

Among my 14 cars, the very best

Faults:

During 10 years and 300000 kilometers, no faults at all.

Wear: about every 40000 kilometers new tyres (Goodyear) and new brake-pads.

New brakes at 180000 kilometer. New clutch plate at 100000 kilometers and at 220000 kilometers.

New battery after 6 years.

General Comments:

After 10 years and 300000 kilometers, no reason to change the car. Still performs well, top speed is over 230 km./hour (shortly "checked" by police radar) and "eating" kilometer by kilometer easily at over 6000 RPM.
