1993 Renault Spring 1.4

Summary:

Very reliable as motor and economic

Faults:

I bought the car in spring time and at first I could not realize this defect. The overall problem is its ignition situation. When you start the car especially in cold mornings it will not start easily. The problem seems to be with the carburetor itself. The gasoline seems not to reach the ignition parts easily.

General Comments:

When you consider price /fuel efficiency and service need for a given time it's a very economic, reliable car. Although you should not consider to pass 130 km/h due to engine noise and vibration inside, when you go between 90 and 110 km/h its O.K. It proved itself a very reliable machine as I tested in the nature on bad earthen roads even on mud and on rocks because we had to use it for geological field surveys. With 45 lt it makes a well 700 km.

1995 Renault Spring 1.4

Summary:

A car for Turkish Roads

Faults:

Inner heating unit was leaky at 100.000. Interior carpet was flushed with anti-freeze. It cost me 90$ to clean the carpet and replace the heating unit. Pretty cheap!!

General Comments:

Spring is a very reliable and affordable car. If you check all fluid levels periodically you will have no problems at all.

Use only original Renault replacement parts in the ignition system (spark plugs etc.). This is very important. On other systems you can use cheaper third-party spare parts freely..
