1993 Citroen BX TXD 1.9 diesel

Summary:

Comfortable, economical and reliable

Faults:

Clutch cable snapped.

Accelerator pedal broke.

Leak of rain water into driver's foot-well.

General Comments:

I still enjoy driving this car.

The interior is still in great condition and the sports seats are still comfortable.

I have stayed away from the 'main dealers' as there are many independent specialist about who will do a good job for a fair price.

Very little has gone wrong with this car. Maybe because it has been looked after and serviced properly.

1993 Citroen BX 16V 1.9i

Summary:

Great fun in a family saloon package

Faults:

Rear swinging arm bearings,

Small hydraulic leak,

Blocked sunroof drain pipes.

Previous owner had had the clutch replaced shortly before I bought it.

General Comments:

These cars are very cheap now and great value.

They are amazingly fast for a 1.9 litre family saloon, Auto-car magazine tested one to 132mph.

I usually get over 30mpg.

Great fun to drive, and still room for a family and holiday luggage.

Very comfortable, but a bit tiring on a long motorway trip because of noise at high motorway speeds.

Build quality is not impressive, lots of interior plastic, but no rust problems unlike the original style BX.

Good maintenance is essential.

There is a lot of junk around though, so buy with care.
