2004 Citroen Picasso Exclusive 2.0 HDI turbo diesel

Summary:

Excellent car. Buy one

Faults:

Fuel pump in tank at 50000 miles under warranty.

Driver's seat cushion worn.

Fanbelt tensioner noisy at 140000 miles.

No other faults; normal wear and parts, only one set of discs.

General Comments:

Very reliable. Could do with a bit more power; only 90bhp.

2004 Citroen Picasso HDi Exclusive 1.5 turbo diesel

Summary:

Reasonable car, spoiled by technical issues

Faults:

Car has been fitted with numerous turbochargers following engine fault indication on dashboard. Since new the manufacturer has been unable to rectify this recurring fault.

Car fitted with replacement turbocharger boost pressure sensors.

Dashboard speedometer (digital) no longer readable.

Excessive vibration from the engine at idle revs, despite all compression pressures being correct. This fault actually makes the car bounce on its suspension.

Areas of the car (supposedly chrome) are covered in surface rust.

Car required a new clutch at 30,000 miles.

General Comments:

Recurring turbocharger faults could not be corrected during warranty period. Manufacturer will no longer investigate this problem.

I have done an extensive review of the Citroen Picasso (2004 from Botswana), and the only advice I can give is get rid of the thing, move on with your sanity in tact, rejoice in the disposal and live again, free of hassle with any other (non-French) manufacturer.
