2005 Citroen Picasso HDi Desire 2.0 turbo diesel

Summary:

Great value and cheap to run

Faults:

No problems so far at all.

General Comments:

Very comfortable and economical workhorse. Used to tow my Swift Challenger Caravan back and forth to Europe, it struggles a little on steep hills, but returning 35mpg when towing, and 47mpg in normal use, it's great!

The seats are extremely comfortable (arm chair style), and internal luggage space is second to none for a car of this size.

I fitted an "add on" engine management system to improve performance of the 90BHP engine, and now returns approx 110BHP, which gives it good overall acceleration. Also fitted spring assisters for towing, which raises the rear substantially, allowing slightly more weight to be carried.

VERY please with my buy.

Hello I have a Picasso Desire LTR. I also tow a caravan and I am interested in fitting rear assisters but I don't know where to purchase them and have they got a makers name?

Hope you can help.

Stan.

2005 Citroen Picasso Desire 1.6 HDI 110hp

Summary:

Surprisingly good

Faults:

Nothing yet.

General Comments:

Too new to assess reliability, but very impressed with the value of the package.

Got £3,500 off list price, roof bars and solid black paint thrown in and a very generous part exchange on my 3 year old Espace.

Dealer very polite and helpful and has followed up sale with a Christmas card, a phone call to check that all is okay and a welcome/thankyou letter.

Everything works as advertised so far and build quality feels good throughout. Old complaints of lumbar support and windscreen reflections have been rectified by Citroen.

MPG fantastic, even though not yet run in. Computer encourages light footwork though.

1.6 HDi 110 hp is flexible, responsive and lively - almost impossible to tell it's a diesel apart from the characteristic tickover rattle.

Road tax £110, my insurance went down from group 14 to group 8, yet power to weight better than my 2.2 CDi Espace!

My first impressions are very positive and would anticipate buying another in 3 years time if all continues to go as well as it has so far.

Four months and 4,000 miles on, still no real complaints. Gives the impression of reliability, although there was an airbag fault flagged up by the computer - sorted straight away by main dealer. Fuel consumption is becoming a game with trying to drive in a manner that squeezes out the figures. A 50 mile journey returned 63 mpg last month!
