1999 Daewoo Matiz SE 0.8

Summary:

Bargain of the decade!

Faults:

Both driver's side side protection strips have come off, but they were replaced under warranty.

Wheel bearing went one week after the 1st service.

General Comments:

For the money this is an absolutely brilliant little car! Huge load capacity (with the rear seats down).

Very economical - over 50 mpg on long (250 mile plus) trips. Managed a trip from the North-East to Paris and back without any problems. Not excessively comfy on long trips.

Lots of admiring looks (and a lot of 'What on earth is that!?' looks too).

1999 Daewoo Matiz SE+ 0.8 MPI

Summary:

3 cylinder 110mph??

Faults:

Nothing!

General Comments:

Superb wee car, never driven anything like it! I've seen 110mph on the clock, and it's still going strong. Nice to catch people out who thought a car that small could not go that fast. Petrol seems to disappear when having fun! Buy one today.

1999 Daewoo Matiz SE 0.8

Summary:

It does exactly what it says on the tin!!

Faults:

Nothing at all.

General Comments:

This car is the best thing since sliced bread. It does exactly what it says on the tin, looks good, performs well. It's comfortable, relatively quiet and does everything we wanted it for.

We spent a week in Cumbria and I haven't had so much fun in a car for years, it's like a mountain goat!

Value for money? Where could you buy 3 years motoring for around £6500 when all you need to do is fill it up (rarely), insure it and tax it (for £100).

1999 Daewoo Matiz SE+AIR 0.8

Summary:

It will take anything you can throw at and more besides, buy one

Faults:

The thermostat was very slow to operate causing the engine to take a long time to reach normal temp. Part replaced and no further problems, probably just a one off.

Cover on nearside door mirror covering mounting bolts flew off for no apparent reason. Replacement part supplied within 2 working days.

General Comments:

It's extremely well put together. Quiet & refined at normal road speeds. The seat are very supportive and comfy even on long hauls. The engine lively but understandably not going to set the world alight with off the line performance. The economy is excellent on a recent 200ml.+ trip with 2 children & luggage with the AC on at 70mph on m/ways it returned a staggering 47mpg. The Daewoo service is excellent and lives up to its promise. Overall nothing else comes close to it. If circumstances stay the same I'd buy another one, if they don't I'll buy another Daewoo to suit.

1999 Daewoo Matiz SE+ 0.8 3 cylinder MPI

Faults:

None.

General Comments:

Brilliant!

Must be the best in its class.

Didn't get the air conditioning but had ABS and mica paint job instead.

Easily cruises on motorway at 80-85mph, and I've seen 105 on the clock! Keeps up with the traffic without too much trouble, but at the expense of slightly worsened fuel economy. Very quiet and composed on the move. Buy one!!

1999 Daewoo Matiz SE 0.8 petrol

Faults:

Nothing, apart from delivery being 2 weeks late as original imported vehicle had problems at PDI.

General Comments:

Engine much nippier than commonly given credit for (too many Motoring Journalists with free XR3i's). Use the gearbox!

Dealership extremely civilised, and gave good deal on PX, tolerated several test drives. Excellent car within its limitations - not for regular motorway use. Lots of goodies on the base model. Cheap but well made.

1999 Daewoo Matiz SE+AC 0.8 petrol

Faults:

Nothing as yet.

General Comments:

Like a tardis inside. Great aircon immediately you need it. Excellent radio cassette. Versatile and solidly built. Power plant happy with most situations but works hard up hills with 4 adults on board. Well done Daewoo!
