2010 Ford Mondeo Titanium 2.0 TDCi turbo diesel

Summary:

It's a fine car for the price, and I'm very happy with it so far

Faults:

Nothing mechanical. The blue of the bootlid FORD badge is flaking.

General Comments:

The engine is fairly smooth at most speeds; nowhere near as agricultural as the 2.0D4D Toyota I had for 86000 miles previously.

Power is adequate, but it's obviously not a high performance car with only 140bhp to play with.

I drive 30000 miles per year of mixed motorways and town/country, and so far have averaged 51mpg, which I think is extremely good for a car of this size.

Talking of size, there is acres of space inside this car. Passengers in the back have lots of legroom, and comparing the front seats with my previous car, is like comparing Ryanair Economy Class with BA Business Class. I can drive it all day, and still feel pretty fresh.

Equipment levels are good too, the built in Bluetooth connects easily with your phone, and the DAB radio is a great touch. Cruise control is a real boon on motorways.

The only thing it's short of is decent cupholders, just a drop in one between the front seats and none at all in the back, which is a shame, especially with a family of four in there a lot of the time!

The one thing that lets this car down is the dealer service, which is unhelpful and cold.

Two services have been carried out at Ford, and both times the car has been returned unwashed. Apparently it's not part of the service anymore, although my wife's Yaris always comes back from Toyota clean, inside and out!

Update:

I am about to hand this car back to the lease company, as I have had it for three years.

It's got 96000 miles on it and all it has needed is brake pads, tyres and a brake light bulb. That is pretty impressive IMO.

It has spent most of it's time on the motorway in cruise control at between 70-80 mph, and has returned a TRUE 48 MPG (calculated by me, not the car!)

If the dealers were better, I would have another one like a shot.

2010 Ford Mondeo Zetec 2.0 TDCI 140 turbo diesel

Summary:

This car is very good

Faults:

Nothing, but I've only had the car 2 months.

General Comments:

A marked improvement in quality from the 2.0 TDCI 130 Ghia I had before.

Big to park - I had to request a different car parking space at the office.

On the open road it comes into its own. Economy 47/48 mpg.

Pressing ahead through country lanes, and this will drop to the 40 mark; still not bad.
