2005 Honda Civic SE 1.6

Summary:

Practical and reliable, but SLOW

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Great use of internal space, has an MPV - like feel.

Some clever little innovations like the gear-stick on the dash which sounds mad, but is actually v comfortable and the flat floor along the back which makes transporting buggies etc easy.

Light steering, possibly a bit too light, but OK to drive on urban runs.

Sad to say I am getting shot of her after just 9 months as it is simply the slowest car I have ever driven in the mid-range. I'm sure I was spoilt by the Puma, but I have had too much of overtaking / merging into traffic and not having the power to do so safely. The car is absolutely fine from a standing start, the problem is moving from 30-60 or 50-70 quickly, it just won't do it.

2005 Honda Civic Type R 2.0 Vtec

Summary:

Brilliant, perfect

Faults:

None. Everything is still running just as good when I brought it. The most reliable car I have ever owned.

General Comments:

What can I say this car is...unique. Keep the revs below 5600rpm and its like a performance 2.0l car. Get the revs above it then it becomes a racing machine... also sounds like one too!!

I have the upgraded seats in my civic which is the actual recaros and its the best I have come across. Its comfy, but yet it has a racing and hugging feeling. It makes back roads and rack racing so fun.

I haven't had any problems with the WINDOWS. A previous owner said the windows steamed up... mine has been perfect. Maybe its the owner having a bit too much fun either with the car or someone in the car!!!

Crap turning circle and torque's a bit low. Apart from that, an awesome car. Love mine and never want to sell it. Road going touring car.

2005 Honda Civic Type R 2.0i

Summary:

Nice car. I like it

Faults:

Nothing to report so far.

General Comments:

My previous car was a Corolla D-4d, so I have gone from a pretty torquey car to its exact opposite really.

I was a bit worried by other users saying t had no torque and it s a pain etc. however I haven't found this a problem, its just a matter of adjusting your driving style.

My model is the face lift model so I can't comment on the pre 2004 model.

I like lots of things about this car primarily though the gearbox is something I think is simply fantastic, its like a motorbike gearbox, rifle bolt quick, accurate and snappy, just a pleasure to use and its positioning is near perfect.

The interior is the usual Japanese fare, everything is where it should be and well made, and there is plenty of space too.

Its taken me a little while to adjust to the engine, but Wow what a sound, really exhilarating vocally and to drive, a real master class in engineering, and it feels a lot more powerful to me than figures suggest.

Handling wise it has lots of grip, but I haven't explored the full capability of the chassis yet, the ride is a bit firm, but I knew it would be when I bought it, potholed UK roads can be a nightmare, but it is a sports car.

Costs haven't been too bad so far, but I will report back if things get pricey, fuel, parts and servicing are a lot cheaper than some other equivalent makes.

I would recommend this car, mines probably not run in yet so I'm looking forward to future miles, its definitely a purists car, its no bloated soft roadster, so don't expect limo like ride, just enjoy it for what it is. Lots of fun!

2005 Honda Civic VTi-S 1.8

Summary:

Family version of an Integra

Faults:

Rear hub makes a noise in reverse - maybe a bearing; a common problem on VTi-S Civics.

Nothing else so far!

General Comments:

I am really into my cars, and know very well what Honda cars are about. I've avoided buying a Honda so far because of their street racer boy look, but I opted to get a Civic VTis as it's a bit rarer and more family orientated, but don't let that fool you, the 1.8 engine is similar to the one found in Honda's race ready Integra! Just doesn't rev as high, and with the equipped LSD, it handles like a go kart!

If you look underneath the car, you will find the stiff braces and double wishbone suspension. The handling really is thrilling; a bit of understeer if you really hit the limits, but nothing to worry about, it's fantastically responsive.

The VTEC engine is incredible, there is plenty of power down low, and you never have to upshift, even with the car full. But push it and the VTEC kicks in with a glorious roar, and suddenly the car rockets forward, albeit it needs winding to the redline, but that's part of the fun!

I'm well impressed with the VTi-S; it looks great, drives fantastic, and with nice leather seats, is quite comfortable. Economy is also amazing

Have had car for 18 months, 1999 t plate very low 15000 miles (the best I can figure, is it is genuine!! after a bit of checking-up)

Reliable, average fuel cost (and 169 BHP!), Only had to fit a back box on the exhaust.

Excellent car I intend to keep it until it DIES!!!

Just average performance until around 6200 rpm then it becomes a sports car, it roars at you for more! happily up to 8200 RPM.

Drop a gear and overtake with confidence.

9.5 out of 10 (saving 10/10 for the type r!, GIVE US A 5 DOOR VERSION HONDA!!!)
