2001 Hyundai Coupe SE 2.0

Faults:

The coupe was fault free when I purchased it, and remains that way.

General Comments:

I love the look of the car. Many RD1 (the 1st model) owners scorn the new shape head lights and alterations; for me, that was the reason I was attracted.

The head lights on this model are worth mentioning; they may look good, but that's the only compliment they will get. Low beam is so weak it's not funny; plenty of light on the side of the road, fields, road side furniture etc, but very little in the direction of travel. If you're thinking of buying one and are not the most confident night time driver, then forget this model, it's that bad!!!

It's a reasonably comfortable car to drive, I'm 6'1 and have no issues with either head or leg room, the steering wheel is adjustable should you feel the need to shift it, although I have left alone. The leather seats are quite firm, annoying at first, not noticed now.

The interior is quite stylish, although a little cheap and nasty (Audi before) with a definite clunk to all the switches. They all work though, so no real complaints, and at least you won't have a reprogram/reset every time a light on the dash flashes at you.

The engines powerful enough for the road, and to be honest, if you want something faster, buy a different car, as you would need to upgrade the brake and suspension systems before thinking about much more power.

Brakes? Adequate (that's about all I have to say).

Suspension (see brakes).

If you mechanically minded, home servicing is simple, all old tech. OK, so it has fuel injection and electronic ignition, but that's a positive, and from what I've read on forums, it's pretty fault free.

If you're looking for a coupe, try finding one with the usual, low mileage, service history etc, but if it doesn't have this, just barter the owner down, get it home, change the oil, plugs and cam belt, and you'll have years of fun.

2001 Hyundai Coupe SE 1.6

Summary:

Exceptionally stylish and comfortable

Faults:

Nothing yet and I hope nothing does go wrong! Just purchased the car today and can't get the grin off my face and can't stop looking at it from the window. very impressed.

General Comments:

This car is ideal for a young couple/person.

The seats are so comfy, they hug you as you drive.

Interior is just amazing - everything is where you want it and is exceptionally stylish!

Not ideal for a family as you can't get into the back very gracefully, but if you're looking for a car just for you - this is ideal, the price is great for the sporty and superior look.

A review of something should give feedback to others regarding aspects of the article/device/vehicle. Such feedback should be based on the experience of ownership, if the review is intended to assist others. Such experience should take a period of ownership to develop.

One day's ownership will only share the new owner's glowing enthusiasm for the characteristics they are hoping their new purchase will have.... which may be very different than reality.

2001 Hyundai Coupe SE 2.0

Summary:

A good car, exceptional value for money

Faults:

In 48000 miles, in only 13 months. The only problems have been:

Windscreen wiper working loose.

Repeated failure of front sidelight/headlight bulbs.

General Comments:

The car is excellent value for money, there just isn't any other car with such a high spec. available at this price.

The performance is good, and I have been surprised at the quality of build and the reliability.

The dealer support has been good.

The one thing that lets the car down is comfort and lack of space, the cabin is very cramped. The rear seats are very small and the access, via the folding front seats, is not at all easy.

I believe that the new model is considerably roomier.
