2002 Isuzu Trooper Citation 3.0 turbo diesel

Summary:

Rubbish and unreliable

Faults:

OK, bought this Trooper in Jan 2009 with a full service history, and all appeared fine.

The day after buying it, it wouldn't start! Was a week in garage and was fitted with new glow plugs and relay switch.

Came back fine for about 4 weeks. Turbo charger blew and was in garage again for three weeks!!!

Got it back for another 3 weeks, and won't start yet again!! Fuel rail switch renewed and now told the turbo that was just put in is faulty!!! Now waiting for another charger. Have had nothing but trouble with it since buying at end of January.

General Comments:

When it runs without engine problems, it is really quick and nice to drive!

Perhaps it wasn't "rubbish" nor "unreliable" until after it hit 100,000 miles.

2002 Isuzu Trooper 3.0 duty 3.0 turbo diesel

Summary:

This car was the worst car I ever bought

Faults:

The exhaust went 4 times, the dealer continually tried to replace it and weld it to no avail.

The windscreen cracked with no apparent impact.

The engine overheated on 4 occasions.

The turbo failed once.

All this on a brand new car.

General Comments:

I bought this car brand new from an Isuzu dealer. I had it 11 months, and suffered the problems above. It was continually broken.

Every time it broke it would be collected and a hire car left in its place, but when you buy a jeep you don't want to run around in a fiat panda, rover 45 or a vauxhall astra for weeks on end.

I kept the car for 11 months, then brought the dealer to court when he wouldn't replace it. We settled out of court.

The car was thirsty and unreliable.

The interior was poor compared to the Toyota and Mitsubishi.

Load space was huge, and the ride was good.

All round vision was excellent.
