1995 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L high output straight 6

Summary:

Brilliant

Faults:

Nothing went wrong. It runs fine.

The power mode is great; increases the rev range before it changes gear.

When running at 70mph, I swear to god that it will not pass 1750 rpm, and I've been 110mph, and it only does 3000rpm; it's great, it revs really low because of the overdrive.

The Land Rover I had before couldn't even get past 75mph. It is great that the Jeep hits all the right buttons. I would easily drive it for 24 hours straight.

The electric leather seats are brilliant. They have no damage, and all the electrics still work.

The engine rocks the car when you rev it. That is the massive amount of power it has. I made some mods to it, and now it has 250hp from its original 180hp, and it will do 0-60mph in about 6 seconds. It absolutely tears.

Insurance was a grand, which is not bad for an 18 year old.

1995 Jeep Cherokee SE Limited 4.0

Summary:

A boss off roader

Faults:

Outside temperature gauge is faulty.

Leather seats are starting to lose their colour, but no rips or tears.

General Comments:

I have just recently bought this car and I am really pleased with it.

It has just had a gas conversion so the fuel consumption is still the same High!but price of gas offsets this.

Not too surprised at the power with the 4.0 litre engine provides loads.

Gas conversion work a dream and very reliable.

No problems as of yet touch wood.

First 4X4 so fingers crossed for the future.

A 2.5TD owner with 83000miles. Had recent problems with overheating. The radiator was replaced due to an apparent coolant blockage, but overheating problems continued. I was then told the head gasket had blown. Upon closer inspection I was told that all four cylinders were cracked, all four cylinder blocks therefore needing replacement. I have been told by the garage that this is normal wear and tear. I am completely surprised by this, you may expect this type of wear on a highly stressed high performance engine but certainly not a low performance 115bhp 2.5litre turbo diesel engine.

Instead of getting the land rover I recommend an In line six cylinder engine. After the first jeep our family owned ran to 250,000 miles we haven't bought anything else.

Have had the same problem with 2.5TD heads, they are prone to cracking inside and you normally have to replace all four. I replaced mine in Mar, and now I am burning a lot of oil, around 1 L per minute! Definitely the 2.5TD VM engine is the engine to avoid.

Maybe you should try a CAR. SUV's haven't got anywhere near as strict of federal standards in how their built, how they run, how safe they are or anything of the sort. Jeeps, however, are less prone to rollovers than other SUVs. Oh, wait, that's right. You're narcissistic, and can't be seen in anything that doesn't make you "feel" powerful, young, and adventurous. Get over yourself and do the rest of the world a favor. Drive something economic.

Have a 2.5td jeep cherokee and yesterday the engine coolant bottle began to boil and leak!what is wrong please?

There is no sign of water in the oil and hoses seem warm.

1995 Jeep Cherokee Limited 4.0 petrol

Faults:

Flat battery, new steering box fitted (when still under 3yr warranty, thankfully, would cost over 500ukp else).

Pulls slightly to left although dealer cannot find anything wrong.

General Comments:

Wonderful to drive. Drinks petrol around town, although not too bad for a 4 litre on a run, averages 26 to the gallon. Smaller than people think, look at one parked next to a Discovery!

The dealer has been the best I have ever dealt with.
