2005 Kia Magentis SE 2.0 petrol

Summary:

Poor

Faults:

Not much to be fair, was reliable enough when I had it. It was a company car for me at the time. I heard the guy that had it after me was not soo lucky - apparently the head gasket went not long after it was given to him and the car was scrapped by the company (not worth fixing, the car had such low value), but it was only 8 years old by then and had about 60K miles, which is poor going. Most cars have plenty life in them at that age and mileage, but not this car!

General Comments:

Was given this Magentis as a company car. Never liked it. Boring to drive. Ugly to look at with its bug eyed headlights. Silver exterior.

Inside was the only positive thing it had going for it. Full leather seats in black, very comfortable. Problem was on the motorway the cabin was noisy so you could never enjoy that luxury cruising feel. Ride was also poor. Cars like like profess to be executive cars but cannot cut it with the likes of similar cars from Ford, and certainly not German cars. My previous Ford Mondeo was better than this car in every way.

Fairly spacious inside. Boot was big.

Terrible on fuel, barely did 29 mpg. It was an automatic, but this was still poor. Not very fast either.

Just a mediocre car at best, that was cheap for a reason. I've heard the more modern Optima that replaced this Magentis is much better, but I'd still be skeptical.

2009 Kia Magentis LS 2.0L

Summary:

Wouldn't buy another KIA!

Faults:

Front suspension noisy over small bumps. Clunking noise. Had them changed on a recall. Still doing the same! Very rickety ride at slow speeds over bumps. Feels like a lack of control. Unresponsive steering.

Lacquer peeling off inside edge of alloy wheels. Chrome grill bubbling.

Gear box hit and miss. Changed the gear knob for an after market one as it was heavier. Seems to have worked, and gear selection is better.

Air con overflow pipe twisted, allowing water to run into the inside of passenger foot well. Dealer had no idea. A friend suggested I had a look just in case. He was right. The pipe looked like a stick of liquorice.

General Comments:

Shame as this car could have been made a lot better. Although it was made for the USA market,

I think the UK ones are sub standard.

The Magentis in the UK was a pretty poor car. Later Optima from about 2012 was much better though.

2005 Kia Magentis LE 2.0 petrol

Summary:

Nice car to drive, good buy second hand

Faults:

Drivers electric window switch faulty, won't drop automatically with a single touch.

Leaking rainwater getting in to the spare wheel well.

General Comments:

This car is very comfortable on main roads, motorway or city driving. However it handles badly on bendy roads, makes for slower progress.

For drivers 6 foot or more, the absence of rake adjustment of the steering column leads to a compromised driving position.

Boot space is long but very shallow.

2004 Kia Magentis LE 2.0 litre petrol

Summary:

A lovely if old fashioned car

Faults:

Nothing, as yet.

General Comments:

This is a very comfortable, easy to drive car that is quiet, well made and infinitely better than my previous car.

It has a beautiful bonnet to drive behind.

It is a cheap alternative luxury car. Not a car to race around in, but an excellent cruisemobile.

2004 Kia Magentis LE 2.0

Summary:

One very well built car; I'm impressed

General Comments:

Have had this newer KIA 9 months now.

Love this car.

Love the Auto/Slap stick.

Engine power is acceptable above 4500, good pickup.

A/C, E/W, P/S, P/B, E/BootLid, Childproof Door locks, E/Ant.

Nice bit of power.

Done 125mph @ 5000 and still climbing. I bet 130/6000.

Ruby Red - Nice colour when WAXED.

Comfortable on distance drives; even my lower back.

Steering nice and controllable at any speed.

Braking seems OK, have not needed emergency stops yet.

Filters all seem clean and engine breathing nice.

Fluids remain topped, no leaks.

************

2000 KIA Shuma LE Auto -Bought from Yes Car Credit.

Y.C.C sucked and now closed. Under new name now.

Was dissapointed in Y.C.C took it out on car.

Only put in fuel and air.

Left front tire began to show wear after 2 years.

Car never brokedown and kept on going and going and.

Impressed with KIA SHUMA after 2 years of neglect.

Contract at 25 payment allowed me to get rid of it.

KIA SHUMA NEVER had a big problem and never let me down.

Faults-

Sore back "Lumbar" after any distance drives.

Fuel consumption not bad, but not good either.

Used to V8 being from Canada. 2.2 is spunkie, just not good enough for me.
