General Comments:

Bought this car in hard times - I'd lost my job and I used some inheritance money to buy it. I wanted something cheap & reliable as I didn't have money to waste.

It's been a great car and has never let me down. Does about 400 miles a week at the moment.

It isn't the most exciting of cars, but does have character and becomes quite lovable after a while. My girlfriend is totally smitten with it.

While the engine isn't happy at high revs, I just love this car for it's low end torque around town. I've previously had twitchy GTi's like the 205 GTi which isn't happy at all around town. The Kia makes easy work of town driving and can turn on a six pence.

1996 Kia Pride 1.3 petrol

Summary:

A perfect reliable first car

Faults:

The car has been more or less completely faultless, but then again I've only had it a few months, so I'll just have to see if it develops any faults. Doubt it though.

General Comments:

The KIA Pride is hardly built for power or speed, but nevertheless it is economical and extremely reliable.

It's also great fun to drive and you'd be surprised at how much space it has for a small car.

In general I'd recommend the KIA Pride to anybody who needs a fun small car that's as durable as pre-cast concrete.

I test-drove a KIA Pride today. Not knowing too much about any type of vehicle, I was amazed to find out that the vehicle I was driving was a 13.00 without power steering. The steering was so easy and I would've thought that I was driving a 16.00 instead of a 13.00. Thumbs up for anybody thinking of buying a KIA!!

I agree about the amount of space this car has, I'm a 25 stone 6 foot tall weight lifter and compared to my old VW Polo this car is a limousine.

1994 Kia Pride LX 1.3

Summary:

Reliable budget buy that flies

Faults:

Clutch

Disc's

Pads

Exhaust (All 3 parts)

Steering Rack

Pinion

Drive Shaft

Track rod end

Suspension has just become very soft

Handbrake (Rear brakes locking)

Wheel alignment re-setting every 5000 miles.

General Comments:

I have driven this car really hard over the past 5 years, so no wonder these parts needed replaced.

I have a love/hate relationship with my pride, and driving it hard gives me pleasure.

It's a 1.3 and is faster than any other car in its class barring performance models etc.

I've seen it beat a 1.8 golf up a dual carriage-way hill.

My pride still does 300 miles to a tank costing me £26.

Its still just as quick as it was when it was given to me by my Gran. Just now, I'm loving it.

This car is seriously quick, but handles like a boat on stilts. Great fun.

I would have to disagree about the Pride being 'Seriously Quick', but it does have very good torque at the low revs which is where I think it scores points for many. Gets breathless in the high revs though. I assume they've done the cam timing for low-rev town driving and that suits me fine.

I am in total agreement with you, because I was blessed with one. This car for its small size with stock rims, it corners so well, it is frightening. I have this car for over ten years, and the engine hasn’t been into. All the parts I ever changed is

Tie Rod End

CV Joints

Bearings

Bushings

Shocks.

Every thing in its class is left behind, my 2nd gear gives me 110.3 KMPH this is when you change just before the red line (try it).
