1995 Land Rover Discovery TDi 2.5 tubo diesel

Faults:

Blown turbo.

Broken suspension.

Cracked chassis.

Windscreen fell off!

Electrics.

General Comments:

This car may be fine for going to Sainsbury's, but try using one in a real off-road environment!

I used one in Kenya for over a year, and then abandoned it for a 1986 FJ60 Landcruiser (indestructable).

In Africa we have the worst road conditions in the world. Take it from me, the Landy may look nice, but it just does not measure up. Over-complex, sloppily built, impossible to fix without a PHD.

1995 Land Rover Discovery TDI 5 Door 2.5 turbo diesel

Faults:

Broken up back axle.

Faulty rev counter.

Broken indicator switch.

Broken alternator.

Broken rev counter.

Warped dashboard coming apart.

Central locking broken on drivers door.

Rear view mirror keeps coming adrift.

Sun roof leaks and blind clip broke.

General Comments:

A nice car to drive, feels safe, dreadful reliability. A very great shame as I like it a lot but cannot afford the cost of the repairs or the inconvenience of being dumped at the road side. Condition so poor it is going to be difficult to sell.

1995 Land Rover Discovery TDi 2.5 TDi

Faults:

Faulty brake light. Fixed in five minutes - er... that's it!

General Comments:

Tough, reliable, comfortable - a great car. Surprisingly good around town - absolutely fantastic off road. Great cruiser - you can go for miles and get out feeling fresh. Best car I've ever owned - can't imagine having anything else from now on.

1995 Land Rover Discovery Tdi 3-door 2.5 turbo diesel

Faults:

Starter motor failed - otherwise no mechanical problems. Central locking keeps blowing fuses. Cause not yet determined. A number of minor trim faults - all corrected under warranty.

General Comments:

A splendid family car & tow vehicle for our boat, surprisingly nimble in town traffic and a pleasure to drive anywhere. Fuel economy is very good for a car of this class. Mechanically reliable so far, yet let down by a number of minor body trim faults which should have been picked up in manufacture.
