1993 Lexus LS 400

Summary:

Mileage irrelevant, maintenance is all. A true great

Faults:

Rear wheel bearings.

Starter motor failure.

Instruments stick at zero until interior warms up.

General Comments:

This car was very cheaply bought because of its high mileage, but it had been well looked after, and is still fast, smooth and silent.

Drivers seat and steering wheel show their age, but overall appearance and functionality are still very good.

The few repairs needed have been expensive, way over the cars value, but if I like it (well, I love it!) then I won't throw it away.

There is no rust, it polishes up well (glass-like dark green) and does 20 mpg daily, 25 on a run.

1993 Lexus LS 400 4.0 V8

Summary:

A true luxury express, with compete reliability thrown in

Faults:

Main beam light bulb replaced at 98,000 miles.

General Comments:

For a car of it's size and weight, the LS400 is very quick.

Although the leather looks a bit like plastic, the cabin is an extremely nice place to be.

I like the little things that make ownership such a pleasure.

Such as the fact that the air conditioning kicks in within seconds of starting the engine.

Or, that the rear window starts to de-mist before I have had time to fasten my seat belt and select reverse to back out of my drive.
