1992 Maserati 222 SR 2.8

Summary:

The worst car I have ever owned

Faults:

Problem with fan. Thus resulting in the car over-heating and now has a head gasket problem.

Central locking faulty.

Dashboard faulty- sometimes nothing lights up.

Problem with coil.

Problem with crankshaft sensor.

Seats starting to wear badly.

Wood starting to crack.

General Comments:

I buy approximately six cars a year that fall in the classic or performance bracket, this is the first maserati I have owned and without doubt the worst car I have ever bought. My advice is spend a little more and buy an early Porsche if you want an every day car as reliability is excellent, or a cheaper model Ferari such as a Mondial if it is for occasional use. The only positive things I could say about the Maserati is the performance was quite good and the beautiful Cartier clock always worked.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

Your problems with this car sound very strange to me. Since there was originally never a Maserati with a Cartier Clock existing,- but you obviously had one built in, may be you had lots of other non proper working after market parts built into your car as well? Where and how did you purchase it?

1991 Maserati 222 SE 2.8 twin turbo petrol

Faults:

Alternator failed twice, replaced with a later model unit.

Seat back lever failed.

Drivers seat wearing.

Drivers seat belt failed.

Water pump replaced.

Air conditioning currently not working.

Fan relay failed.

Speedo, oil pressure gauge and voltmeter simultaneously failed.

General Comments:

Very nice car to drive, although very expensive. As an occasional use toy the costs are acceptable, but a bit too high for everyday transport.

Petrol consumption improves at continental motorway speeds.
