2002 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Avantgarde 200K

Summary:

A Mercedes should be better than this

Faults:

The car arrived with a bad scratch inside the door at the rear.

The switch to drop the rear head rests broke.

A cam sensor failed resulting in a lack of power.

The heated seats both stopped functioning correctly.

Whilst the cam sensor was being replaced the dealer scratched the car resulting in a further two days off the road for correction.

All these faults happened in the first five months and Mercedes do not seem to thin this worthy of an apology.

General Comments:

The car is not as well built as the old C-Class.

Although it is faster it is noisy and raucous under acceleration.

The extra equipment added as standard seem to have detracted from the overall build quality.

Look pal, hear it from someone who has owned Mercs since young, the best model was the 190e, which was a tank build and ultra quick. Mercedes are now cheap as chips in the way they build their cars; the handling is rubbish and the dealers are very poor. Mercedes should be doing something about this, or else the company will go very very wrong.

The end.

The old Merc's were good. The newer the cheaper build process and a cheaper car. I own a 2003 Merc ans was very disappointed. Probably would have been better off with a Lada.

2002 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sport Coupe 220 Cdi diesel

Summary:

A great looking car which is a joy to own and drive

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Manual wing mirrors cannot be retracted - specify 'electric wing mirrors'.

Manual seat adjustment is very awkward to access.

Seat belt 'rest' position is too far back, making it difficult to put them on.

The manual override feature on the automatic gearbox is very effective - and a pleasure to use (when you get used to it!).

If you are bored with silver cars, check out the Heliodor Green - it was just made for this car!

2002 Mercedes-Benz C-Class AMG C32

Summary:

Sleeping look to a pocket rocket

Faults:

New Clutch and new gear box required at 5,000 miles. After that the engine never did sound the same.

General Comments:

Push down hard and see 0 to 60 in 5 seconds without effort, or just take a smooth and silky drive in your own time. A superb four door saloon car.

A pocket rocket of a car without looking like one. Pick off any BMW when ever you like.

A wolf in sheep's clothing.

Have you actually ever seen a C Class other than in pictures?. I bet you have no clue what you are talking about.

I have a c 32, it has near on 360 bhp (m3 343 bhp) its very quick of the line faster than m3 etc.

All this said its lacks in charecter.

Thinking about chopping it in for m3!

A very very underestimated car, would be as quick, maybe quicker than M3s etc.

C32 can out do an m3 (E46) or m5 (E39) from the same year in a straight line, especially from a rolling start. However the merc has nothing on any BMW M car on the track. Way too soft, but it does have a more comfortable ride for everyday use. I like my C32 as it shocks the hell out of boy racers who think the 0 is missing from my C320. Makes me laugh...

The M3, M5 and M6 are not automatics, but SMG.

2002 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C320 Elegance 3.2 V6 petrol

Summary:

An understated road rocket!!!

Faults:

So far, absolutely nothing and I have a feeling its going to stay that way for a long time yet!

General Comments:

Have never been a Mercedes fan up to now, but saw a new C class and I was a convert after a dealer arranged 24 hour test drive.

This is one hell of a motor car, much more rapid than my previous BMW 528i, and it handles better too.

I don't feel that this car is as solidly built as previous Mercedes, the doors shut with a bit of a clang instead of the solid thunk you would expect.
