Faults:

Air conditioning didn't work, needed nasty freon-type stuff to refill, so disconnected and all associated plumbing removed. Where I live, a heater is far more important :-)

General Comments:

Bought for offroad/workhorse use, rough as a bag of nails, but that's OK. Perfect for what I used it for. I used to do trials riding, the venues for this were farms/quarries/plantations etc. Sometimes, I've needed 4WD/low range just to get to the car park.

Had the power takeoff on the gearbox for winch, but not fitted, couldn't find one in a scrapyard.

Stuck on a set of Colway AT tyres, 265/75x15 IIRC, OK for road use.

Despite hard use, offroad/green laning, never missed a beat, nothing broke or fell off. (A friend of mine has a Freelander TD4, never goes offroad, always having problems with it, go figure)

Faults:

Wind screen and rear doors both leak, although it looks like they are original, so have not done bad.

Some interior parts are not a strong as they would be on a modern 4x4, but again the car is 22 years old.

There was some wheel arch rust which needed work.

General Comments:

The car is a strong and reliable go any where vehicle. There is plenty of room for 7, and the seats are all easy to adjust, and there is enough legroom for a large male in the rear occasional seats, and they are very easy to put up.

There is body roll on corners, and although the engine has amazing torque, it is a little slow unless you really work it. Best to sit back, take it steady and enjoy the economy. I have regularly been getting 35 mpg, which I feel is very good, and on a run it has been as high as 45 mpg.

Driving position is excellent and gives a good all round view. The height of the vehicle gives you the advantage of seeing over most cars in front, which increases your response time.
