1987 Mitsubishi Shogun SWB 2.5 turbo diesel

Summary:

Strong, Reliable Workhorse

Faults:

Turbo over boost sensor came loose and fell out resulting in no boost and poor performance. Found sensor on road, screwed it back in and away I went!

General Comments:

Bought this 4x4 against a few recommendations. Its main purpose was as a workhorse for my company. Its main job over and above a second car was to pull my car trailer. The 2.5TD performs well when towing a car and the trailer, never need change downs on the motorway, even up those steep hills on the M3!

I have the SWB version, and whilst its jerky over the bumps, it cruises well on the motorways with surprisingly little noise.

I was fortunate enough to pick up a very low mileage one for its age, and considering it is now 15 years old, its been kept in exceptional condition, and the 2.5TD engine runs beautifully and continues to perform well and reliably.

Space in the rear is a little limited, altho 4 adults will fit in the car relatively comfortably and with the rear seats down, I can cart around a lot of gear.

Main weakness on these is the gear boxes, altho no trouble yet, I feel that will be the one major thing that does go on it. I will keep this car for some time, as I quite enjoy driving it and in the 2 months and 3,500 miles I have had it, its been great.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
