A Porsche eater
Nothing really, just usual wear and tear.
Oh my I love this car; it is amazing, and running at 350hp, it is like a bullet in a straight line.
They are very tail happy in the wet, but it is a cheap super-car. I have recorded a 5.6 second 0-60 time.
I would highly recommend this car.

Superb performance and reliability for super mini costs
Nothing what so ever. The only maintenance expenditure made so far (other than routine servicing costs) is for a pair of wiper blades.
Annual service costs are around £130 at my local Nissan garage.
The car offers so much performance for so little cost. The engine provides smooth and rapid acceleration sufficient to make it quicker than the vast majority of cars on the roads today.
N.B A factory standard car is capable of 105mph in 3rd gear.
A definite bargain that should not be missed.
The handling is excellent in the dry and whilst it is prone to over steer in the wet it can be easily controlled without too much effort.

The best value coupe available
The car has been fantastically reliable, with no major failures. The only parts that have needed changing were:
Rear discs and pads all round - 62,000 miles.
This is quite simply the best car I have ever owned. Its been superbly reliable, been fun to drive and comfortable enough for long journeys. The boot is not the largest and the back seats are not for adults, but as a 2 seater coupe it is excellent.
Although real speed junkies might complain that its no the fastest car, it is plenty quick enough in most circumstances. Also I found the handling to be very progressive, even though there are horror stories of how dangerous in the wet they are. Driven with a small amount of car in adverse conditions, and remembering that they are rear wheel drive is the key to driving comfortably in the wet.
200sx's really are amazing, underrated cars. They may not have the badge snob status of their German rivals, but for the money they are vastly superior.

Unbelievable value for money given the performance
Weak actuator on the turbo. Cheap and simple to replace at a specialist.
Engine utterly reliable with frequent (3000) mile oil changes and (6000 mile) servicing.
Very very fast (it's a baby Skyline!), and even faster with simple mods (exhaust, air filter etc).
Guaranteed to put a smile on your face every time you drive.
£25k when new, these now represent superb vfm.

Fantastic in the dry, tricky in anything else
Nothing so far apart from the usual wear and tear (wiper blades etc).
2 litre turbo and rear wheel drive, it's on every boy racers shopping list, but it is mainly driven by the older generations, why!
When you want to talk about smooth power delivery the 200sx is a good place to start, Nissan have done a fantastic job on this engine and the power delivery is smooth as silk, constantly building from 2500rpm until the red line at 7000rpm. But the best part about this car is that it is still usable round town despite its long gearing, just keep the revs down and it is fine.
As for handling, this car is well balanced in the dry, has a positive turn in, provides plenty of grip and is fun to drive. However the 200sx has a dark side and becomes very tail happy in any condition other than dry, given a bit of enthusiasm on the loud pedal. While the tail can sometimes be caught easily, when it goes, it really goes and you are then just a passenger. I must admit that I am amazed that traction control still is not even an option on this.
The interior is a bit of a hit and miss affair. On appearances it looks nice and in some ways it reminds me of an Aston Martin with the colour coded door inserts. The driving position is very positive and all the controls are on hand. The pedal layout is also good and the heal-toe gear change is easy to achieve. However the seats are not as supportive as you would wish for a sports car and the dash is a bit plain (a boost gauge would be nice). Accommodation is also a mixed affair, while the front seats have plenty of room the rear seat leg room is almost non-existent, especially behind the driver.
The boot space is probably about the same as a medium hatchback although tall objects could be a problem. The rear seats also fold down which is a bonus and I have used this for carrying snow-boards (ski's would probably fit too).
Fuel consumption appears to be a driver dependant affair. Drive it economically and you can get an average 30 mpg, Thrash it about and you will find that fall towards 20mpg.
To summarise: The 200sx has fine handling and one of the best engines in its class. It's fun to drive and has the Japanese reliability to lay back on. To top it off the 200sx is a good 2 person tourer which will give you a rewarding drive as long as you respect it.

More power for less money!
The only fault with the car is the paintwork. After washing it sometimes doesn't look as good as it should and a small niggling fault with a passenger window rattling.
This car is exceptionally quick and can handle quite potently.
Also it sounds pretty good too. At 3,000 RPM it tends to 'growl' or 'bark' at you and you can hear them old turbo's whistling too.
But the trouble is it can only really seat 2 people, 4 at a very tight squeeze as there is no room in the back.
But overall a fantastic car and it also makes a fabulous DRIVERS car.

It doesn't take much to get a bit more grunt from them, the restrictive airbox is a good start, or removing one of the two cats. It will pass MOT with only one installed. Both these changes cost pittance and give a very good increase in overall performance, especially at the top end where the car is very restricted due to the air intake.
