1992 Nissan Micra A# K11 1.3 twin cam

Summary:

These cars are a must have..

Faults:

Nothing.

Haven't had to do a single thing to it.

Seats have started to wear a small bit, but it does have 177,650 Km on the clock.

General servicing costs (spark plugs, air filter, oil and fluids). Service I do myself.

General Comments:

This is a review of the Nissan March A# (Japanese Spec Micra)

The car is the most reliable and comfortable car I have ever owned, even friends cars are not nearly as reliable.

Even though I use this car on a track, as well as on the road, still nothing has gone wrong with it.

With the 1.3 twin cam engine, possibly slightly modified before coming in from Japan, it does 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds. And it keeps accelerating the same throughout the gears.

Road driving, it is great on fuel, getting around 45 MPG.

A great all round car, I would recommend to anybody who wants a cheap car to buy and run, and if you need it, the parts are very cheap as there are so many of these cars on the road.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

1992 Nissan Micra L 1.0 petrol

Summary:

Simple, like all cars should be

Faults:

The coolant pump gasket leaked, pump/timing belt had to be replaced. Rust on the door seal and on the back door. One ball-joint: terrible Irish country roads.

General Comments:

Does everything a car can be expected to do. One liter engine, four gears (ok, a fifth would have been welcomed), carburettor - I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened the air filter housing. 5-5.5 l/100 km aka 50-55 mpg. Just matches my ideas of a good car. Five people can travel in it if the destination is near enough, and two could go to the edge of the flat Earth.

A bunch of fox-hunters and their degenerate dogs, or precisely the chaos they caused on a single-digit main road resulted the crash that finished the Micra. Both I and my front seat passenger got out with no injuries, and the car designed in the late seventies bent where it had to bend in order to save our bones from bending. If I find another, I'll buy it. If you find one, don't hesitate.

1992 Nissan Micra L 1.0

Summary:

Economical and fantastically reliable little runabout or first car

Faults:

In 6 years of owning this car it has only broken down once, and that was a year ago when the original battery (which was 13 years old!) finally gave up the ghost.

The only repeat problem with it is the wiper blades - it does tend to need a new set every year as they tear pretty easily.

General Comments:

This isn't the most exciting car on the road, but, after 6 years of fairly high mileage running for a car of it's age, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this model of micra. It's been extremely economical to run and only ever failed it's MOT once (because I it had a scratched window screen). If you service these little motors twice a year I swear they will run longer than almost any other comparable small car! It's fairly nippy and quick out of a junction, and handles pretty well on lanes and around the town. It's clearly not really built for the motorway and does rattle rather a lot at speed, but that said it quite happily chews up the miles from Manchester to Oxford at a steady 70-80 miles an hour, and as I have a 5 gear model is pretty responsive on the open road. It's also much pretty comfortable over long distances too.

I'm glad you've had such a good experience with your Micra. I've been Nissan mad since I was a little girl (no idea why!) and have always wanted a Primera Sports +. However, having only just learned to drive at the age of 27 I decided for my first car I'd have a Micra.

I picked one up really cheap and my partner's an MOT tester so thankfully it was thoroughly checked out before I bought it. It might not be the best car in the world, but it's extremely economical and comfortable to drive. I love it!
