2014 Peugeot 208 Active 1.4 HDi

Summary:

So far so good

Faults:

Nothing so far.

General Comments:

Good looking Pug 208. A very sharp looking little car. Even the typical grey color of modern cars cannot dull its looks.

1.4 diesel is a good one, not very fast, but with always around 60 mpg, who can complain? Insurance and tax is as cheap as it gets also.

Interior modern and comfortable.

Smooth and quiet to drive. Plenty of space for its size.

Way more advanced car than previous 206 and 207 models in terms of drive-ability.

The 208 is a fine choice so long as you find a looked after car. And avoid the 1.0/1.2 "pure-tech" petrol's - I could be wrong but I do not think my 1.4 HDi diesel engine has the "wet-belt" which famously is awful, so I will check with my mechanic and have the belt/chain changed regardless. But if it's a simple design it should not be a problem or too expensive to change.

2015 Peugeot 208 Pure Tech 1.2 petrol

Summary:

Excellent

Faults:

Nothing, but I have only had it one year. Serviced and MOT'd, no advisory or anything nasty was noted. Mechanic in-fact said the car was in amazing condition for its age.

General Comments:

If you want a decent to drive, good looking hatch that does it all, the 208 is well worth considering.

Cheaper than similar cars like a Corsa or a Fiesta, the 208 offers good value for money. I got this low mileage example for a nice price.

Bright red, good looking exterior.

Hard to believe it - this car is 10 years old now. It looks and feels modern. Pure Tech is a nice spec and the interior has all the mod cons. A little noisy on motorways, but otherwise perfectly refined. Spacious enough for two people and some luggage.

1.2 petrol manages a genuine 45 + mpg and is quick enough for me. Cheap tax and insurance also. Who needs diesel or electric?

What more can you say, it is a cheap to run car, it does all I need. My previous Peugeot was just as good, hope to keep this one many years.

Watch out for future reliability of this car - I believe you have a "wet belt" engine. Known to be troublesome as the miles rise. Look it up.
