1991 Peugeot 309 GL 1.6

Summary:

This car is a hoot for no money. The GTI must be a peach

Faults:

A few issues with jamming front calipers. Otherwise faultless.

General Comments:

Although it looks like grandmas shopping car, I have found this car to be very reliable and comfortable.

Motorway speeds can be held all day without too much strain. 400 mile non stops are a regular occurrence, and she ticks over beautifully at the end.

I have been very surprised by this car, which is why I have kept her for so long. I can even shock the boy racers in the twisty stuff, such is the feedback from the chassis. The car is softly sprung like all the French stuff, but when the body roll reaches the end, the grip is tenacious. It is worth spending the extra money on good tyres however

1991 Peugeot 309 Look 1.3 petrol

Faults:

Starter motor failed at about 115000 miles. £10 for a used replacement.

One light bulb goes every couple of months.

General Comments:

Fantastically reliable car; Used every day and starts every time whatever the weather. Economical; £10 petrol for every 100 miles and uses very little oil. Parts are cheap, plenty of used available.

Very easy to drive, all the controls are light and it can even be quite good fun at times.

Starting to get a bit tired over the last couple of months now, rear suspension getting softer and seats sagging. The rattles are increasing too.

A newer model which is just as well looked after would be a good first car or for anyone on a budget.

1991 Peugeot 309 GLX 1.6

Summary:

Amazing Fun

Faults:

The car was running sweetly I crashed the car and had it repaired and modified more than before. going well then the throttle body snapped and the revs were stuck at 8000 rpm. not for the fainted hearted.

General Comments:

My car is lowered 100mm all round 15 inch alloys body kit you can't get a better looking car if you ask me. goes sweet fully tuned with engine mods. the handling is so good just sticks to the road.

Bucket seats add a good race feel and hold you in. the inside is not over the top just right.

1991 Peugeot 309 GLD 1.9 diesel

Summary:

A good fast standard diesel

Faults:

Nothing yet, but does seem reliable, only have had it 4 days so far.

General Comments:

Seems very quick for a diesel car, driver door has dropped a little, but all rest OK, good condition inside just have to get a speaker casing for driver side and get a aeriel for it, but nothing else wrong.

1991 Peugeot 309 GLX 1.3

Summary:

Amazing car for all ages

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the car.

It is amazing.

General Comments:

This car is amazing. I am a new driver, and think that this car is far superior to the Ford Focus in which I learnt. I would recommend this car to everyone. There is a model to suit everyone.

This car is seriously quick and handles like it's on rails.

Welcome to the wonderful world of French automotive machinery! :-)

It is a very under-estimated vehicle, excellent handling & willing engines, but just wait until you get to try a Citroen BX16v... quite simply awesome! Even more so when you see how cheap they are.

1991 Peugeot 309 GTi 1.9

Summary:

Quick car, but a little boxy to look at

Faults:

The Air Flow Box was faulty when I bought the car. The previous owner had it super chipped and took it out when I bought it. A new one cost £150, second hand, £15.

Don't try and have a go at putting new pedals on (e.g racing pedals) as the original one's are a bugger to drill through.

Paint work was alright although the bonnet was badely faded. The rest buffs up well.

Body kits are poor and not worth the transformation.

General Comments:

It's a fast drive to begin with, but like all cars, you get used to the speed.

Fantastic around corners with little lean.

Seats are comfortable particularly the drivers as it has a lumbar support and interior is fine, still retaining the original black finish on dash etc.
