1993 Peugeot 605 sve 3.0

Summary:

Best car PEUGEOT ever and will ever make

Faults:

Power steering went at 98,000.ABS pump went at 110,000.

Replace the main fan relay.

General Comments:

This car is seriously fast and very smooth. it kind of gives you that magic carpet ride.

It handles very well for such a big car.

All the electronics has never failed me. i have never suffered any major problems with this car.

I service the car every 5000 miles to keep the engine happy. the gear box is very smooth and still going very strong. every toy in the car is working has it should with no faults. i also have the 24v version. the 605 SV 24v is a totally different animal to the 3.0 12v that I have. this comes standard with 200 HP and is crushingly quick. this is a seriously fast Amalgamation rocket ship.

I have no intension of selling this cars ever.

1993 Peugeot 605 SV 3.0 12V V6

Summary:

A modern GT, fast, comfortable, soothing, bargain

Faults:

Clutch cable broke, expensive fix for a small plastic part, but can only buy the complete assembly. Also have to tilt the engine forward to replace. 4 hour job.

Intermittent connection on the dim-dip lights.

Someone has removed the air-con system, or it wasn't fitted as standard to the SV in the UK. (SVE was higher specification).

Plip remote control/system failure, car immobilised until I could disable the alarm (rather too easy...) No idea of cost yet.

General Comments:

A superb car particularly at the very small price.

A modern Grand Tourer, a quick, comfortable car that handles very well. If you want to cover miles in serious comfort and calm, this is an excellent motor.

The 12v V6 has strong torque so you don't need to rev it for serious performance. 0-60 not too good, but in-gear acceleration can catch you out, it is that strong. It can easilly add more speed than you expected with a small flex of your foot. Often performance cars need lots of revs to move, this doesn't. 5th gear good from 35mph to 135mph.

Black leather seats can be a bit sticky if no air-con. They seem to be hard wearing.

The 605 is built much better than the 405 I used to run as a company car. Most of the electrics are top quality, but there is the usual French attitude to final finishing, with occasional lack of attention to detail.

One of Pininfarinas best and most fluent designs for a saloon car.
