2002 Renault Laguna Sport 1.6

Summary:

Lovely car, but too many problems

Faults:

2 ignition coils went.

Alternator and fan belt replaced after 50000 miles.

Traction to be done every 3 months.

Steering problems all over; still trying to solve.

Shocks are being to go on the front.

Climate control unit replaced.

On board computer telling my I have 97.4 mpg, and fuel reading goes up; only can use the level to see the level of fuel left.

General Comments:

This is the worst car Renault made in years; even my old Megane 01 was much better, and it had 130000 on the clock.

I have a loan taken on the car, so I can't sell it yet, but in a few months will be trading it in for a Mondeo or Passat. I really wanted the Laguna to work out better, as it was a dream car of mine, but I was disappointed. Now I am stuck with it. Don't buy one.

2002 Renault Laguna Dynamique 2.2 turbo diesel

Summary:

Let down by poor reliability!!

Faults:

Drivers side electric window packed up. New regulator fitted.

Intercooler split open, resulting in a lack of power. New intercooler fitted.

Both offside and nearside bottom ball joints and track rod ends wear out very quick.

Key card stopped working.

Car has now developed a tendency to wander and pulls badly to right when accelerating. Told this could be the steering rack. Great!!

General Comments:

What a shame, could be a great car. Very comfortable and a nice car when all is OK, but let down very badly by expensive faults.

Sorry Renault, I won't buy another.

General Comments:

I really liked the car, but the reliability and build quality became such an issue that I sold it.

Renault, you had designed a comfortable roomy car very well, but built it like a load of rubbish, costing the end owner lots of money to put your manufacturing mistakes wrong. You need to do more reliability tests on your vehicles, and until you do I shall not be buying or recommending a Renault to anyone.

You can build a reputation for good looking cars in days, but a reputation for well built reliable cars takes years, and you clearly have a long hill to climb to be as good as other makes in that department.

PS my car was not a company car, but privately owned, and driven very carefully by the person who was buying it.

2002 Renault Laguna dynamique 19dci

Summary:

Worst car ever

Faults:

Tyre sensor fail.

Brake light switch stopped working.

Hazard lights would not turn off.

Snapped con rod taking out pistons and valves.

Blown ECU.

A/C leaked gas and then give up altogether.

Turbo blew.

General Comments:

This car has fantastic looks

And that is as far as it goes.

Thought I might have been one of the lucky ones when buying this car, how wrong could I have been.

Had three months of motoring before things started to go wrong, and when they go wrong on a Laguna ll they go very wrong.

This has to be the worst car I have ever owned and has put me off buying French ever again, and it was green which is the most unlucky colour ever.

I had this car and I am very happy with him. I drive over 150000 miles and still everything is o.k. Only regular services (oil, filters...) and this car is a plain :).
