2015 Renault Trafic Sport

Summary:

OK van - disastrous service / warranty

Faults:

Rear shock absorbers failed - Couldn’t get booked into to a dealer for 6 weeks to get replaced. When finally booked in - refused to repair under warranty, insisted I replace both and only offered to repay 50 percent of the cost; however they were charging two hours labour (twice what a home grown mechanic would take, never mind a dealer).

Decent vans but terrible customer service - still waiting on Renault HQ to call me back.

General Comments:

Decent van but customer service terrible and warranty not worth the paper it’s written on.

These are decent vans, my father had one to over 10 years old and 200K miles. Anyways, around 30K on yours is a low mileage for shocks to fail at, but at 5 years old they might have argued wear and tear and out of warranty; probably why they did not pay in full for the repair.

2016 Renault Trafic Business 1.6 d bi turbo

Summary:

Good work van; terrible main dealer, prices and staff...

Faults:

From new the stop start never worked; the van would cut out and not start. 9 trips back to the garage and they found a faulty clutch pedal; they swapped it and all now works fine, and we have had at last 30000 trouble free miles after a terrible start.

The van is a nice size and replaces the old square Transits that you can't buy any more.

The local dealer was the main problem; rude, unwilling and untruthful. A shame as it detracts from the van. Renault Masters are close to useless; stick to local, no main dealer.

2008 Renault Trafic 115 dci 2.0 turbo diesel

Summary:

Excellent van

Faults:

New alternator, power steering pump, and lots of service parts such as brakes and suspension. All acceptable at the age and mileage now.

General Comments:

An excellent van I've owned since new, a popular sight on the road as works vans, but also make a good project van to convert to a motor home. Interior is spacious, and to drive the van feels car-like and not cumbersome at all. Engine could be faster, but economy is OK, managing nearly 40MPG when unloaded.

Needed a lot of work at last the service and MOT, but with over 200,000 miles I think this OK; it has never given me any major trouble in the years up till now. Highly recommended.

Had two of these vans at work and the power steering pump and alternator failed at around the 170,000 mile mark; expensive, but the van was otherwise reliable.

2009 Renault Trafic SL27 2.0 turbo diesel 115hp

Summary:

Just what I needed with a large family

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Just about run in.

Very comfortable and surprisingly quick.

Bought from a main dealer who I would highly recommend as the service I received was second to none.

I bought the 8 seat version as the 9 seat is very expensive to insure.

Much more roomy than the Fabia, and cheaper to run than the Shogun I also used to own.

Love it so far!

2003 Renault Trafic SL27 1.9 dci

Summary:

Well built, great cab and economical

Faults:

High pressure fuel pump failed at 34500, which was a month after I bought the van - replaced by the Renault main dealer as it came with a three month warranty.

General Comments:

Fantastic value for money, 18000 mile service interval certainly helps keeps the running cost low. The last service cost £235 at the Renault main dealer. Still getting 35mpg and most of the driving is around town. Just replaced the cam belt kit; Renault quoted £440, but I had a local independent do the same job for £221!

Cab comfort is exceptional; highly recommend the air con pack - I regularly have to turn it down as it's like driving a fridge!

In the two years of ownership I have replaced one tyre, the battery, wiper blades and the driver's sun visor.

Even my wife drives this van as it's 'like driving a car'. Very easy to park and is great to load / unload due to the very low sill at the side and rear of the van.
