1988 Rover - Austin Mini Mayfair 1.0

Summary:

The best and most fun car in this world!!!

Faults:

The clutch slave cylinder gave up the ghost a few months after I bought the car, but a brand new replacement from a local garage saw that the little mini was soon forgiven. The price was such good value that I have even forgot how much it cost!

Handbrake cable snapped (just as we pulled up on the drive fortunately!) which my dad and me replaced, along with adjusting the rear brakes and replacing the front disk brake pads. The parts were very cheap from a local specialist Mini garage.

Replaced front headlights as the factory originals were past there best.

General Comments:

I can honestly say the Mini is the best car in this world!! When you see it on the car park it just makes you smile from cheek to cheek! Minis have a massive infectious character and you just can't help, but warm to them.

It is a brilliant first car. It has perfect all-round visibility, brilliant precise steering, the best road holding around, superb classic/modern/ageless styling.

I have had this mini for over a year now and it has never broken down or left me stranded. It is not just your car, but is also your best chum - a best chum that uses very little petrol, cheap and easy to service, reliable and always makes you laugh!

The Mini is amazing around town, but is also excellent for a blast around the b-roads and trips down the motorway. The Mini 1000cc has no problems about cruising at 70mph - 80mph.

I have had many panels replaced panels and wax-oiled (rust-proofed) all the box sections and under-body and since rust has been no problem!

All-round the most fun you can have on four wheels!!! :)

1988 Rover - Austin Mini Mayfair 1.0 petrol

Faults:

Clutch.

General Comments:

A very nice small car. Very nippy around town and looks excellent with alloys and a decent exhaust. A bit uncomfortable but handles very well.

1988 Rover - Austin Mini 1.3 petrol

Faults:

Nothing that cost any real money, but enough small things like constantly blowing fuses to give me a dislike for the car.

General Comments:

I HATE IT. DON'T EVER BUY A MINI!!!

It has a bad ride, bad brakes, bad engine, bad looks, bad interior. It's just plain bad.
