2002 Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.0 turbo diesel

Summary:

Would like to have it back working. It would be great then

Faults:

The car is losing power when driving at a steady speed in fourth gear. Revs die down, changing gear or clutching can not bring up any revs, and the car cuts out and stops on the road. Not safe. Thought we had dirty diesel first as it happened after a fill; stopped 3 times in approx 10 miles. Did not happen again for a couple of hundred miles, then lost power on another three occasions within 15 miles of each other. Intermittently seems like there is a limiter on the revs.

There is a delay in the engine turning off after the ignition has turned off.

Has had a new power steering belt, clutch, and alternator.

Advice would be appreciated. I am hearing a lot about sensors that are expensive, and are only possibilities.

General Comments:

Light jeep, very economical to run.

Had been great, but something is now wrong and it needs to be fixed, or retired.

Could be a number of things. I would change the fuel filter, spark plugs, etc... Then if it's not that, I would get your fuel pump tested.

2002 Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.0L

Summary:

Does exactly what it says on the tin

Faults:

Rear high level brake light unit failed at 62000 miles.

Windscreen washer pump failed at 52000 miles.

Drivers side door lock failed at 55000 miles.

Radiator needed replacing at 67000 miles.

General Comments:

I have not had any major fault with this car. I have read some bad reviews on-line, but can't honestly say I have ever experienced any of them.

The cabin is not the best looking you will find, but very roomy.

Plenty of power from the engine, if a little noisy nearing motorway speeds.

I guess people can occasionally buy lemons, but I have had faultless service from mine; any faults have been minor.

2002 Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.0 turbo diesel

Summary:

This year seems to have a lot of problems

Faults:

Just picked up a Suzuki Grand Vitara 2ltd Peugeot engine 2002 5 door, bought it with what I'm sure is a diesel knock; around 1500/2000 rpm is its noisiest.

Took it to an auto electric specialist who said it was number 4 injector, which was closest to the radiator! Changed that one... no improvement, then moved it until the injector closest to the flywheel which we couldn't get out, I've left that for now. Suzuki garage has said this diesel knock is a characteristic of the engine!

Is number 4 at the flywheel or at the radiator?

Now my engine management light is coming on, fault code P0230... fuel primary circuit. My local garage said it could be the fuel relay, but the micro relay on the car "omeron..G8HN..1A4T..RJ with 75--95 ohm coil resistance I cannot source, but found a relay with 125 ohm coil; will change both main and pump relays soon.

After reading the entries on the problems with the Suzuki/Peugeot combination, I've changed the lifter pump and am shortly going to change the "O" rings in the high pressure regulator.

I had the "O" rings from a local Peugeot dealer, who said they have never changed these before?

My E.M.L. comes on regular now, and I've bought a cheap handheld set to reset.

The Vitara goes very well, and when I drive up hills and then let it overrun down the other side, a "ping" on comes the E.M.L. and my diesel knock is more of a rattle.

On the motorway, when the rev's are high, there is no E.M.L., but when I come off the throttle long enough, "ping", on comes the E.M.L.

HELP, has anyone had similar problems?

General Comments:

When there is no E.M.L. the Vitara goes very well and I'm very pleased with her, but if I can't solve this problem soon, she may have to go.

I had this problem. The change of o-rings in the HP pump was the answer. Bosch do an exchange set.

Hi.

I have this problem with my diesel Vitara 2003.

The engine is fine under load/normal driving, but once I ease off the throttle or coast, the engine light comes on with fault P0230.

What O-rings did you change?

2002 Suzuki Grand Vitara Soft Top 1.6

Summary:

Great fun - change the way you live!

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with this car.

General Comments:

This car is great fun.

I love the high driving position and the being able to open the soft top at every opportunity.

There was NO competition for me as no other manufacturer makes a 4 seater sort-top SUV.

I am always looking for excuses to take my Zuke off-road - as the TV ad says "it does what it says on the tin".
