2001 Suzuki Ignis GL 1.3 VVT

Summary:

Superb little car

Faults:

O2 heated oxygen sensor, bank 1, sensor 2, and air temperature sensor.

General Comments:

Bought this car as it ticked a lot of boxes. Cheap to run, very good reviews and a perfect size. I also love the look and style of it.

Very solid build, with a pretty keen 1.3 VVT engine.

The interior is quite outdated, but it doesn't bother me.

The suspension is very stiff, so pot holes, bumps etc, you will feel them. It can handle itself on motorways, and do long journeys, even with a car full of people.

2001 Suzuki Ignis GL 1.3

Summary:

No worries, convenient motoring

Faults:

Rear brake cylinder - cost approx £50 to fix in an independent garage.

Little plastic knob on switch that works the electric mirrors snapped off - glued it back on.

Nothing else.

General Comments:

Excellent little car. Reliable, economical (mine is the automatic) - it has averaged 38 MPG over ten thousand miles. I use it for my work commute, which is 26 mile round trip, and also around town for short trips - no long trips to speak of.

Useful design, decent load space with the back seats down. Will take five adults (as long as they're not all huge!).

Maybe not an exciting car, but I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

2001 Suzuki Ignis GL (5 door) 1.3

Summary:

The best car I have ever owned...seriously... fabulous!! :)

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

This car has been fantastic...

I previously owned a Peugeot 206, which was awful and the most unreliable car I have ever owned. Thankfully the garage swapped the car for me free of charge for a Suzuki Ignis, which was 2 years newer :)

Number 1 reason for purchasing - Family Recommendation.

My aunt has always had Suzuki for the past 10 years, and they have been brilliant, ranging from the Vitara (96-N), Ignis Auto (X-00), Ignis auto- (55) and uncle SX4- (08)

They have never had anything wrong with their cars, trouble free mileage and amazing MPG.

I knew I was getting a good car, when I fell in love with the Ignis on the forecourt... It is the GL 5 door in British Racing Green with Suzuki alloys & spoiler.

My aunt bought her 1st Ignis brand new in 2000, 3 door auto. The car got up to 119,000 miles before she changed it for the newer model in Dec 05. It was a brilliant car, nothing wrong with it, everything original. Her new Ignis brand new (2005) is now on 64,000 miles and has only needed the brake pads changed.

These cars (not only the Ignis) have been so reliable and cheap to run...

I constantly get 45MPG on motorways and normal roads... on average about 350 miles on a full tank, which costs me about £30-35...

Overall my car... has been brilliant, I've only owned it 3 months and I've driven over 4,000 miles in it. Equipment is very generous; electric windows & mirrors, front fog lights, alloys, spoiler, CD player - students dream.

For quite a small car, it's brilliant for space. I am an art student, and can fit all my stuff in it. The height of the seating position is fantastic, I feel like I'm driving a 4x4; perfect vision on the road.

OK, the cabin looks a bit basic, but who cares??? As long as everything works!! The seats are very comfortable in the back... boot is a reasonable size, but is nice and high and flat... those heavy shopping bags are so easy to slide in now :)

I really recommend this car, if you want something reliable and cheap to buy... Mine is only on 50,000 miles so fingers crossed it will reach 119,000 like my aunts...

I absolutely love it, as you don't see many young drivers in them, it's unique and funnily enough turns heads when I drive past... It may not be as cool as the Corsa or Fiesta, but I know many people who spend more time than hot dinners down the garage getting them fixed...
