2002 Tata Loadbeta Single cab 2wd pickup 1.9 turbo diesel

Summary:

Cheap, bulletproof, reliable workhorse. Buy one before there's none left

Faults:

Steering idler was worn when I got it due to never being lubricated. Replaced it and it's been fine ever since.

One one occasion it didn't start instantly, so I renewed the glow plugs which sorted it out.

That's all in 7 years.

General Comments:

This is the worst - and best - vehicle I've ever owned. Bought for next to nothing whilst renovating my house, it has been so reliable and useful I'm still using it daily 7 years later.

Interior and body build quality is awful, and it's rusting out all over the place due to no underseal and very little paint, but the mechanicals and chassis are bulletproof.

It is slow and noisy, I wouldn't want to drive it long distances, but is simple to maintain and has a certain old school charm to drive - you have to learn to drive it well - it doesn't do everything for you like a modern car and has no creature comforts (less to go wrong!).

If and when it eventually dies, I'd consider buying another.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Good morning, I've got a Loadbeta, could you tell me where you got the steering idler from please?

1995 Tata Loadbeta Terrain 2.0 diesel

Summary:

Cheap, but this one wasn't cheerful..

Faults:

Car wasn't from a good home:-

Propshaft and bearings making loads of noise and vibration.

Fuel injector pipes cracked.

Voltage regulator blew up.

Exhaust snapped in half.

Door locks and central locking broke.

Preheater timing module had to be replaced.

Engine overheats if driven over 70MPH.

General Comments:

Cheap van that looks like a jeep...

Maybe mine was a bad example, this car had one million problems...

It's a shame because if it worked it could be a lovely car, albeit slow.

Maybe the new 4x4 turbo versions are better?

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know
