1995 Toyota Corolla GS 1.3 petrol

Summary:

It could be better

Faults:

Nothing. Built Like a Rock!

General Comments:

Let me begin by saying how bored I am of this car. It is the second Corolla I have owned in this country (although the first was a '89 model).

The car is slow, it has next to now power and sounds like a diesel. The 1.3l has no pace at all.

The problems carry on inside. Gloomy cabin, and the radio makes less sound then the engine.

I am being unfair though. The car is very economical, and is cheap to run. It is also easy to drive and is very practical.

Which supports the question: Why is it the best selling car of all time?

1995 Toyota Corolla 2.0 SRD Liftback 2.0 diesel

Summary:

A surprisingly pleasant and very clever car to own, which I could warmly recommend to anyone.

Faults:

Transmission-box brace was rusted off at the beginning, causing the transmission to sag (the car was bought in Scotland and had been parked on a main road for two years without being driven at all before I bought it).

The CD-player sometimes doesn't like CD's and spits them back out.

Other than that, this car has been remarkably trouble free.

General Comments:

This is my first Japanese car. I have driven mainly German and American cars in the past, and was attracted to the Corolla by the very positive reputation it has as a reliable commuter car. I found it to be precisely that, and a lot more pleasant to drive than I had anticipated. I have owned BMWs and Cadillacs, but I can say that I feel perfectly well accommodated in my little Toyota, which even seems to have a faint similarity with American cars in that it offers the same, American-style, overpowered power steering and light, sensitive controls.

The materials used inside do seem a bit tacky and "pachydermal" in style, and the ride manages to be both wallowy and bumpy at the same time - but then, this isn't a Cadillac after all.

It certainly is an interesting choice for an enthusiast of the obscure, individualistic car, when such a person needs a reliable commuter car.

1995 Toyota Corolla Sportif 1.3

Summary:

I can only but say that for reliability you cannot go wrong with this car

Faults:

Rear stabilizer rod bush.

General Comments:

This car has offered me total reliability. I have been travelling 130 miles a day through a combination of city traffic and motorway miles for the last 3 years in this car, and have never once had it fail on me in any shape or form.

I have a small noise coming from the back attributed to the aforementioned bush, which I need to replace, but it's not a concern.

Maintain a regular oil change and you will not go wrong.

These were one of the most reliable cars ever made, period.

1995 Toyota Corolla GLi 1.3

Summary:

One of the best reliable cars on the road

Faults:

Nothing has gone with this car since I have had it.

The front radiator (not the Air Con one) needs replacing very soon which will cost £79.00.

One of the front side lights has just stopped working which cost £2.00 for a pack of two!

General Comments:

This car is very comfortable and extremely reliable.

One of the reasons I bought this car is because it is a Toyota and this car has been branded as one of the most reliable cars in the world.

Dashboard is well laid out and has front electric windows, central locking, air conditioning as standard.

The loudspeakers are the originals, but I have replaced the stereo. I have a professional car system, but only installed the head unit as the standard speakers are fine.

Lots of room for from passenger and rear passengers.

Handles the road very well, but not the fastest car around, but accelerates fine for me when needed.

Bought this car for reliability and comfort which it wins better than other cars I have driven (even new ones) and previous owned cars.

I do know some of the parts will be expensive, but I do know they will last a very long time.
