1985 Vauxhall Carlton CDi Estate 2.2

Summary:

Powerful, comfortable and not too thirsty

Faults:

Heater motor brushes.

Electric windows/mirrors.

Trip computer.

Central locking.

All fixed myself on the cheap.

General Comments:

After a BMW 318 (total rubbish in my opinion) the Carlton 2.2i was a treat even though it was getting on a bit. It was quicker, more economical and great to drive.

Some niggling electrical faults, but considering the age I didn't really mind. It was my fourth one and won't be the last.

1985 Vauxhall Carlton L 1.8 petrol

Faults:

New fan.

General Comments:

Excellent car, able to run on unleaded without major cost (£28). Good drive and comfort. Does about 30mpg but the 1.8 engine is a little underpowered for such a heavy car.
