1993 Vauxhall Corsa SRi 1.4 8v petrol

Faults:

B pillars on car started to crack, common problem on early Corsa's. Fixed free by Vauxhall dealer under six year body warranty, took three days to carry out the work.

Slight leak in the boot, fault found; rear bumper top screw letting water in. Leaks now fixed and been dry since.

Discs and pads just been replaced (87K).

General Comments:

Only had car for four months, covered 4,000 mls, performance OK, but feels a bit slow compared to my old car, Pug 205 GTi. Group 6 insurance cheap though. Replaced standard wheels, fitted 15" six spoke Astra alloys with 195 tyres, big improvement in grip levels and ride quality.

Car has covered 87,000 mls with FSH, still feels tight and fit. Close ratio gearbox makes engine a bit 'revvy' at motorway speeds. Very easy to drive around town though.

Good cheap nippy car, looks best in black.

I agree totally. the car is quite revvy at times.

I totally agree with all your comments, I own a nova 1.2l and I then drove a Corsa 1.4 sri down to Devon, the revs are pathetically high at high speeds hitting 5000rpm at 90mph, and you can't hear.

Id rather have the nova, with a quiet gearbox at least, performance not that good although top end aint bad, which again is due to high revs where maximum power is.

I agree with the comments I've had a corsa for a year now and I found it a bit revvy at times although it is a good car to own, it was my first car and I think its ideal for anyone who is looking for a cheap little run-about that is quite safe. It's ideal for us girls too, as its small and compact and can be quick off the park and beat all the lads at the traffic lights, no offense!!!

1993 Vauxhall Corsa LS 1.2 petrol

Faults:

New Battery required 1997.

Heated rear window indicator bulb Feb 1998.

And that's all!

General Comments:

This car was bought, 6 month old second hand, from a dealer in Tyneside. The car was previously owned by BSM (driving school) and had done 10,000 miles. It came with a 2 year Vauxhall warranty, including clutch replacement.

It's now 4.5 years old with 32,000 miles on the clock and has been the most reliable and enjoyable small car we've owned for many years.
